Why survey is important?
Why do you think that a survey is important BEFORE LAUNCHING a PRODUCT? The one who gives 3 good reasons (or more) will get 10 points! ^_^
To make sure the product is wanted in the general public.
To get last minute ideas about any revisions/additions to product public would like to see.
To find out which gender or age group has the most interest in the product for target marketing strategies.

To see how the public accepts your product. You cooked up an idea in a lab and need to see how the public accepts your product. Before you go into production, you want to assure the product will be successful. It is hard to change the product (and the public's thoughts on the product) once you've released it.
In fact, you typically need to do surveys for each market segment you are in. Consider releasing a product in Tokyo versus Maimi. They are completely different.
1) Do people like the product?
2) What would they like changed?
3) How much would they pay for it?
4) Do they like the product name?

hi hi are you doing school work???
Well the reason for surveys is to establish 1. The potential market. 2. Needed features in the target market and 3. Possible errors that could be eliminated before launch thus reducing possible costs of repair and recall

Surveys are important especially to those who will launch their products because you would know if the market you are targetting will buy your product. Multinational firms like P&G, Unilever, etc... have budgets for surveys and researches for their products. They asked their respective ad agencies to make a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) just so they know if their new product will be a hit to their target audience.

Surveying is to conduct an empirical study into the situation, that is to be more realistic rather than by theoretical. However, the questions set must be objective and precise as to the intention set out for and not set to what you expect it to be.
In survey for product. we seek to study
1. The popularity and the need of the products among the public.
2. The opportunity cost with regard to competitors and the cost of product that public is willing to exchange for the best value it can offer.
3. And to cover one job: Just in case after having a good response in the survey but the product failed to sell after launching, at least the sale and market people can show to the boss that the survey dun work.
