Why would you upload free stuff if you wanna make money online and get nothing in return?
I happen to be thinking about starting an ebusiness. And most of the websites I've been surfing on offer free stuff, like free financial andvise, free tools, etc. How do these people expect to earn money?? Tell me if I'm rong! Is it somehow a way to increase the number of visits and to offer commercial space like publicity to companies and then get paid for it? Thanks

It's called a "widget" and it's a standard tool in a marketing strategy called the Jeff Paul-Dan Kennedy model.

They didn't invent it, people have been offering "free reports" and "freemiums" since commerce was invented, but they did refine it and made it very popular again (as you noticed).

There are lot's of "why" reasons - some already covered. One common answer is that you're delivering real, accurate, helpful info so that the customer develops trust with you, to distinguish you from competitors who just sell stuff, and to build an unconscious "reciprocity" effect. Basically, "I gave you this free stuff, now I need a favor from you."

Also, and most important, smart marketers know (from measuring their results) that the cost of the freebie is well worth it because:
- you now have implicit or explicit permission to market to the customer - so you can follow up and eventually sell something
- the value of that eventual sale (and future sales) far exceeds the cost of the freebie (and all the other freebies that didn't result in a sale, too).

It's called loss leading. They offer the free stuff to get people interested in the hope that they will then buy other, profitable stuff.

You sell advertising space, which should pay for the cost of your business and hopefully yield a profit eventually. If you need ideas, the million dollar homepage would be an excellent place to start.

They get paid for every hit they get, plus if you sign up with one of their offers (like click here to learn more or click here to register to win free stuff), they get paid double. I signed up with this company that said to get money for doing surveys, It was all a hoax. Every one who promissed money wanted me to jump through hoops and join their group (some groups cost money) then I would get paid. I have found one site that is all free, but they ask you for a survey maybe once a month, but you do get paid. Do you know of any?

Hi!
Well. in my opinion, free stuff help to increase site visits. Commercial spaces are sold on websites. The more popular your site is, the more likely advertisers will wish to appear on it.

It's called lead capturing. When you sign up for their "free stuff", they get your email and you become their potential customer.
