Design by Daniel | Will online marketing eliminate the actual stores in 25 years from now? |
HI guys,
I’m doing a survey and I just want to know what other people think about this subject? It’s very interesting!
Do you think online marketing (virtual shopping/e-shopping) will reach its full potential in 25 years from now (year 2032)? I mean for sure it will be so cost effective, but will virtual shopping actually eliminate the real stores and you can buy anything online? Let’s say imagine you can buy a new perfume over the web and being able to smell each one before you make your purchase! How do you feel if you don’t see Target, Best Buy or Old Navy stores anymore?
Let’s talk guys!
Thanks,
Danny Additional Details Thanks a lot for all your answers! But let's say some body come up with some kind of technology that you can virtually get a pleasure of shopping! Let’s say you can try on a shirt! How about now! |

Brick and mortar will never totally be eliminated AND 25 years is too close for 100% elimination. Think about it. Twenty-five years ago was 1982. Sure, a lot has happened since then, but a lot remains since 1982.
These are the reasons for the failure to totally eradicate brick and mortar business:
**window shopping/leisure
**not paying S&H
**not dealing with scam shop sites
**touch/see/smell/taste/hear~~before purchased
**not necessarily cost-effective just because over-head's been eliminated. Many items/services still cost the same sold through brick and mortar as is through business sites.
**you need smellovision to smell perfume through a computer. Invent one under 25 years time and maybe you've got a patented idea.
Cheers :) |

I doubt it, folks will still need to try on their clothes, shoes, etc. I had tried purchasing my groceries via the web in the past and was disappointed with the quality of the items delivered. If I am giving up my hard earned money, I want to tryon, touch, etc. the items first. |

I don't think stores will be eliminated completely. The main reason some people choose shopping in stores over online shopping is for the leisure of a day out. |

click-brick is what will thrive in this age. Though pure-click companies can generate revenue, they are not capable for efficiently selling many categories such as apparel which require in-person feel of the product and the fit etc... |

Yeah, it will put them out of business just like the airplane put the railroads out of business... NOT!! It will make life a lot easier for a large number of consumers, but really, some people just love actually going to the stores with friends and goofing off... no, i dont see it happening.
Thats like saying that virtual golf will take the place of real golf.. people dont always play golf just to hit the little ball around.. it is the whole experience, including spending time with friends, getting out in the sun, networking and doing business, whatever the case may be. |
