I sell on Ebay and here lately, if my shipping calculations are off just a bit, people are winning left and right for 1c because there's no one bidding and fighting over things, and sometimes that makes it so I'm shipping out free things, if not free with me helping pay their shipping costs! That's not good. What are your thoughts on the economy?????????????

The week before the economy plummeted, we were selling tons of stuff and making great money. When the government and stock market problem arose, we couldn't sell anything for profit, and were trapped into some things because it was too close to stopping time on the bids, etc.. |

I too sell on ebay and I have also experienced a slowdown. I don't start bids at anything less than I will sell them for because it is normal to get no further bids. Only about 30 percent of the items up for auction get any bids and 70 percent of those sell for the opening bid. Many of my sales are going overseas. Lets hope it gets better. |

well that help me remind of the dealing that walmart have with chineese suppliers.
i understand that there is a turmoil of global markets and stock markets are down, banks under big threat and some of them have already went bankrupt, but at this situation there is situation to swim through this time. i also feel that economy has no correlation to how much should a person earn.
there had been great people like ford corporation which went through depression in 1929 and many who build corporations during the war time. be strong and look at your product protfolio, if it is lying in the market where it has matured, you need to look over through the products which are in the introduction stage. where you can make margins. do not rely solely on ebay, personal sales are also important.
i hope that you would come out of the brain washing that somebody had done about economy and make a lot of money, in case of any help i will be there for you |

you need to make reserve auctions, or raise your shipping costs or something. we broke it. (the economy) now we have to let the screw-ups die out. once that happens, housing prices will plummet, so poor people can buy homes. that will raise housing prices back to normal, and it will fix itself. |

Usually around October things start to pick up on ebay and it should still remain consistent given the situation with the economy. |

Don't list for less than you'd be willing to sell it. Except when I was trying to clean out my old VHS tape collection (which were all listed for 99 cents, plus shipping), the large majority of things I've sold on eBay went for the listing price.
Some folks suggest you set a reserve price, and list it for a penny, but I have to disagree. First, "Reserve not met" scares away bidders. If you're not willing to trust me with the price you'll accept, why should I trust you with my business? I've seen items in a hot category that start with a reserve price going for a lot less than items that started at a reasonable, no reserve, listing price.
Second, if you list an item with a listing price of $10, or with a reserve price of $10 and a listing price of a penny, you'll be paying the same insertion fee. Since it doesn't save you any money, and it may cost you bidders, why bother?
If you have a bunch of inventory that you can't seem to sell for a reasonable listing price, you can try bundling, and selling the bundles. This works well if you are selling items that complement each other. For example, if you're selling video-capable MP3 players and webcams, it's a no-brainer to sell a combination pack. |
