You may, but what part of advertising? If ad sales be prepared, I call my ad reps at all hours including Saturdays and Sundays and they better be available or I will find someone else. Not being mean but its just business |

I have 2 degrees and ran my own ad agency.
It's been said the advertising, "is the most fun you can have with your clothes on."
I've in the business since college. It's interesting, challenging, varied, and lucrative. I made a good living for 35 years.
As a consultant, you could run your own business.
Working for an agency, you could work your way up, starting as an intern or assistant.
You could work for a corporation with their own in-house agency or marketing group.
If you like to write, be a copywriter. Graphics? Be a designer. If you have the time, go get an ad degree. otherwise, try the intern route. It's a terrific career choice.
Every business needs advertising.

I think it would. There are different types of job in advertising. If you like brainstorming with co-workers and being creative, this would be a good field for you. |

Job tips: Go for what you love, not for the money. Don't go for just "the hottest jobs". Think before you act. Plan ahead. |

Hopefully you're able to ask, or intern and learn more about the profession you seek to enter. Have you checked for requirements, the standards, degree specifications, and things in this area? Or what about hours, benefits and drawbacks to the job, and things in this area? Do you know anyone in this same profession? Do you like hanging out or hearing about the work? Have you done anything for free in this area before that shows you what you'd be dealing with for years to come?
Ask LOTS of questions, find out from people in the profession, not in Human Resources or counselling, or anyone in the career area you wonder about. After that if it is what you want make sure you have the right background to begin immediately. You don't want to go in thinking about working for Target or Old Navy and find yourself crunching out ads for your local taco house or lumber yard without so much as a 'thank you' or with that portion of the job suddenly limiting your creativity.
