Would interning as a copywriter help me get into an MBA program?
I'm interested in marketing/sales (I'm good with words, I understand people well), so business sounds like a good thing to enter. However, I'll be a senior (in college) in the fall, and my English major (I've changed my career aspirations) isn't honing any business skills. I don't want to change my major, as I'm already in more debt than I'd like to be in. Would it be advisable to intern at an ad agency as a copywriter and then apply at an MBA program? I need guidance--no matter how minimal--very badly!
Go for a copywriter job. You can always take MBA courses at night. What's more, your employer may pay part of your tuition. Your account executive colleagues, most of whom probably have their MBAs, should also be able to steer you to the best local program.
