Why a person will spend all his time answering question for FREE and getting no reward at all?? With Yahoo ANSWERS Yahoo is getting people coming over and eventually using & buying other services from yahoo. We are ALL use by Yahoo while they are making MONEY. ?? I mean guys open your eyes!! |

That is one way of looking at Yahoo ANSWERS.
However, the choice to answer or not to answer is yours. Most of us here opted in. It is therapeutic and it helps us polish our long gained experience that world remain dormant and soon be forgotten.
I feel the more you share, the more you gain. It would definately enrich our life or to be absolutely correct it did enrich mine. I used to consult and write papers for clients for improvement of their business. I opted out after 15 years for a break. Now I just got back to business and Yahoo Answers has given me the chance to relearn what i have almost forgotten. Even my english has improved.
I do not mind the fact that yahoo is making money as long as they do not charge me for using the services they offer.
If they choose to reward those who have answered massively, well and good. If they don't , hey. We all had fun didn't we?
Sharing and helping is a reward on its own. My dad told me long ago to share what you know and use what you have. What good you do today will come back tenfold when you really needed it.

You are right, but on the other hand there are some good things. It feels really good to answer a question, either an easy one or especially a challenging one. Don't forget the points, they are kind of reward for what we do here. Not a monetary of course.
Yahoo are smart because they count on intrinsic motivation rather than external stimuli. If i get paid 2 cents per answer I'll never do it, but the feeling of writing something valuable and mind tickling makes answers worth it. |

Agree with the above comments of Roland. Nothing is free in this wlorld. Why would you spend your precious time answering all type of questions for free while yahoo is financially getting richer over this?? Very wise point. |

I have just signed up, but I was thinking it was more for fun than anything. Google Answers tried a model that charged for questions and paid the researchers, but it must not have been very successful as they no longer accept questions. There are several sites that do pay however - I did a search for "paid to answer questions" and came up with several such as chacha.com and inforocket. Maybe they would be more suitable for you... |

No worries, I'm just a guy who enjoys helping people. I've answered a lot of questions that I could tell were very important to the asker, and I've received lots of personal thank-you notes.
And yes, I understand the value of expertise - I'm a consultant for a living and my fees are very high.

I agree Yahoo Answers is using the member as free consulting team. Do you guys know any consulting firm who works for free?
Your remark about members coming into Yahoo Answers and using their other services is very true. I have a similar feeling to be use by yahoo for free while yahoo is making money .on my back. |
