Invest it in a tax-free savings account and you'll see it grow as well as it can, with protection from tax upon the interest earned. See here for an overview and details of best buys: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/viewnews.cgi?newsid1077487692,12362,
Many accounts can be opened with £1.00

Otherwise, some tree seeds would help the world for the future, as the trees will help reduce Carbon Dioxide levels in the world. You could even sell the baby trees for more money later!

You don't have to buy something, you could also give it to a deserving cause, such as a hospice or something like the cancer research charities. You may even get a benefit from this later on.

Just some quick thoughts. Good luck! Rob
