An item I really want had a starting bid of $0.99.
Now it's up to around $5 and has 2 more days to go.
I'm pretty sure the final price will be at least $20.

A TV is up 4 sale at £30. 3 old ladies but the tv together paying £10 each. The Sales assistant rings his boss
says he only wants £25 so refund the old ladies the £5. The shop assistant thinks that is unfair on his sale so keeps £2 for himself and pays the 3 old ladies £1 each. This means the old ladies paid £9 each totalling £27. The sales assistant kept £2. £27 + £2 = £29 what has happened to the remaining £1?
the old ladies didn't pay £9 each -- it's a trick question and very old.
Fun Guy
Hi,
The old ladys paid £9 each....so £27 in total - this paid the £25 for the telly and the cashier kept the remaining £2. Simple as that....
Kev R at work need beer
The sum is misleading as you should not add the £2 to the £27.
The £27 is the total paid by the ladies - the TV is £25 therefore the change in the blokes pocket is £2 - there is no missing £1. good try
Swampy_Bogtrotter
The cashier kept the £2 difference between the £25 price and the £27 that the 3 old dears paid (£9 each)
The £3 difference between the £27 and the original £30 represents the £3 that was refunded back to the old ladies.
MGN2006
They paid £30. Out of a refund of £5 the assistant kept £2 (£30-£2=£28) and gave them back £1 each (£28-£3=£25)
So £25 plus a pound each is £28 plus his £2 is £30
Yours maths is ****. Silly person

Total paid: 3 x 9 27
Cost of Television 25
Refund 3
Theft by Sales As. 2
Total 30 = -There us no remaining pound !
27-25 = 2 Diff.
I would fire him!

he should of had £3 for himself not £2 to keep it fair on each old lady.
but why would he keep the money from the old ladies in the first place. whats the shop ever done for him that he would hold £2 back from them

It went into the salesman's pocket. He probably thought it was easier than dividing £1 by three.
