A question about selling on EBAY!!!?
An ebay member bid on an item of mine and won, but after two days and two emails to her, she responds to tell me she will pay me when she gets paid Thursday!!! The nerve! I let her know after the auction ended (and before she got around to letting me know this) that I would wait until Tuesday this week before relisting the item. I only wait three days for payment, and don't know why the world should revolve around her?! Can I relist the item even though she claims to intend to pay? The item didn't even cost very much, but my time is money and I do not think I should have to wait so long. Does Ebay have a policy about this? What should I do?

In my opinion -- I buy and sell often -- you have a reputation to protect on Ebay. If the item didnt cost that much, I would give her the extra 2 days to ensure a smooth transaction and positive feedback. Ebay has a rule against non-paying bidders, however, I dont think you can even file a claim until its been at least 7 days. Since she did respond to you, try to work it out. No, the world shouldnt revolve around her -- esp. if your payment policy was listed in the auction -- but since she did contact you and is only asking for a little more time, work with her on it. In the end, it'll be worth it. Who knows, she may buy from you again. If you relist it, you may get zero bids the second time.

If you stated in the auction that you would only wait 3 days for payment, and it's been longer than that, I would say file a non-paying bidder form with ebay. You can do this right from the auction page. You still have to wait another week to try to work it out with the buyer before you can get your fees back, but at least it will let the buyer know that you are serious!

You are in the right. However this is mail order stuff. 3 days is not bad, if she asks and makes sure it is clear.

I have had times when I thought I had more money in PayPal and had to wait 3-4 days for it to transfer over.

I would not get too upset about it. Mistakes happen. And if you relist it, you might not get as high of a price, plus you have an additional listing fee.

I find that many people get into tit-for-tat feedbacks. Don't do that. You will be glad you were nice even to a customer who is late paying.

I don't believe there is an actual set time frame, I believe the seller has the right to list what they expect in their auction. I've seen some that say 7 days, some say 5, some 10, some 3. If you didn't list it in your auction when you expected payment for the item and she is stating she will pay it on Thursday, don't make such a big deal about it. Give her until Thursday and if she doesn't pay by say 5pm, then relist it. You're talking a couple extra days.

yes, u can relist the item. as long as your auction specifically said 3 days.

Thundercat
Did you state in your auction on the time frame of the payment? Actually, you might not want to upset this person. If you do quite a bit of selling, do you want to risk them leaving you with a bad rating? A negative mark on a buyer with minimal ratings won't affect them to much. But if you have very good feedback ratings, what will a bad mark do to you? If you do re-list, it isn't worth giving her a bad mark as she will likely retaliate against you and leave you a bad rating. Is it worth it for an inexpensive item? What will hurt if you wait til thursday?

if you specified in your listing that payment must be received in 3 days, then yes you can relist even though she says shes gonna pay, HOWEVER you must consider that if you help her out this time by extending the payment period, she may return to you for another purchase. maybe she really needs the item and would appreciate if you could help her out a bit. the benefit of ebay sellers is you have that option to be flexible to make a customer happy. i mean it is only a few days. it would be different if she was saying she needed another month.

did you put, in your auction, when payment is due? if so, then as soon as she didnt abide by that you can relist the item. yes ebay has a policy about this. look under "help" on your ebay page.

my co-worker has an ebay store. he has a few every month that do that. he just smiles & says next time ill get them 4 a late fee & laughs. lighten up! if you want instant monitary gratification gamble.

crazydavythe1st
I think the policy is three days, so I believe you can relist it.

since its you item then tell here that you have a policy and stick to it and tell her if she wants the item then pay for it the exact day that you need it

Mister_Mister
I'm pretty sure they do have a policy... and that would be that if you say you're going to relist, you can relist. But if you do, better block your paypal account to her email address... what happens if she tries to pay you anyway? You get charged all these fees to try and reimburse her, what a mess.

What I'd Do: Smile and let her do it. And then give her crappy feedback AFTER she gives you good feedback. Work with the wording so you can get as much info into those few little spaces as possible.
