Hot air is cleaner in the sense that it prevents the spread of germs better than paper towels, and reduces the use of valuable landfill space. It also is less wasteful of natural resources.

I would have to say, NEITHER!!! Unless you cover your wet hands in something prior to touching the papertowel dispenser or the airdryer button, you are recontaminating the your hands by touching the devices.

Ew! A public restroom?! NOTHING in public restrooms are clean! *lol* but if there were...i would have 2 say the air dryers.

Air dryers, push the button with your elbow.
But then, we live lives that are too clean already. Why do people obsess about a few germs when we live in the bottom of an ocean of air, filled with viruses, bacteria, and other flotsam. Our bodies are covered with various organisms. It's time to start acknowledging the 'wee ones', and join them in nature.

I read some where to use towels when you can - that the dryers spread bacteria because they don't get hot enough to kill them. Don't know how true it was. Anyhow, I like towels because i can turn off the water with the towel after i'm done drying my hands (get the towels before you wash them so you don't recontaminate them) and open the doors with it too.

Paper Towels get your hands dry. Airdryers don't. But in terms of sanitary I think Airdryers win.
