Its a scam, shred the check. If you deposit it, they will trace the check so that they get your bank account Info. Or they will cancel the check after you send the money, so they make a quick $790 off of you.
Either way its a scam. If they can't just mail you a normal personal check for $10, then don't sell them the bag. |

Yes, you are being scammed. Do not send them anything! The check they sent you is no good and you won't find out until you've already sent them the cash. |

Don't cash it, the same thing happened to me. I cashed a $5000 check a few days later the bank came a calling. After I spent about $3000 of it. So I had to pay it all back plus a fee for the check that was returned to them.
So do not think it is real because believe me it is not!!
Thanks,
Robert Duffy

I was in a situation just like this and it was when I was trying to sell an item on Facebook too. I think it is definitely a scam. Tear up that check and break all ties with those people. Immediately. |

Tell them that the transaction is off and don't cash the check. Or if you really want to sell the handbag have them go through a paypal kind of account but I wouldn't cash the check because of fraud and I would contact your local police department about this issue. |

that is a huge scam...stop talking to them and block them..dont assioate with people u dont know...espcially emails of job offers that seem too good to be true...unless it is a trusted company...but remember scamers can copy the ads or page of major companies....its better to call the main line and talk to people personally |

Yes you are being scammed and there is something you can do:
Print this picture and mail it to them: http://static.flickr.com/53/130245294_23b05ea699_o.jpg |

That is definitly a scam. The number one reason that leads me to think this is that they want to send you a big check, you take out what you want, send the rest back, but you're the one that will owe a bank $800 when the check doesn't clear. That is a tell tale sign that its a scam. I went through the same thing when selling my car, although I knew it was a scam so I didn't reply. |

yes they are scamming you. by the time you find out their check doesnt clear the bank its to late because you have already sent them the $870 difference. Your bank will at that point deduct the $870 from your account |

pass this on to the police right away, dont make any contact with these people until you have spoken to the police, its to steal your money, this has been going on for some time now with Nigeria |

Yes, it's a scam. The check won't clear. |

Definitely. If you get a check it will be a fake. Call the local police and give them the check, then tell the "customer" what you have done.
The same thing happened to my son when he sold his car on EBay. Fortunately we were able to work with the bank and stop all of the transactions.
Look at the front of the check. I am willing to bet it was written against a bank or credit union in Sanford, FL. The name of the bank was even misspelled. When we called the bank the account was fake, and the person who supposedly wrote the check was not known to them.
Call the bank and check it out.
Call the law and give them the check. The local ones and the local FBI agent. The police department can give you the info. Do whatever they tell you to do.
If the cops do not tell you otherwise, tell these folks that the check is in the hands of the police and they can get it from them. They will not bother you any more.
Seriously, do not send them anything or cash the check. This is the EXACT same thing that happened to my son. Check it out like I described, you won't be sorry.
LUCK!!! |

Yes, scam. don't do it. I hate those scammers. Put SARS, HIV or some plutonium bars in a bag and mail it out to them. |

The check is fake. Your bank may cash the check, but when they realize it is fake in a few weeks, they will deduct the money back from your account. By that time you will have already sent the scammers cash, and you'll be out of luck. |

Yes! You're being scammed! If you cash the check, it will seem to go through, then you'll send them the $870, then, after the money is out of your hands, you'll discover that the $880 check is bad and you'll have lost $870, plus any fees your bank charges. Report it report it report it! |

The fact that they are involving out-of-the-country business is incredibly sketchy and is an easy way of scamming people without worrying about being persecuted in the US. |

Absolutely, without a doubt a scam.
I couldn't spell it out any clearer. The (almost) exact same thing happened to my husband and I (not once, but twice!) when we were listing some items for sale on line. One being a vehicle.
Don't feel bad that you've gone this far though, it's not too late!
Do not cash the check, do not send them anything else.
Go to: http://www.fraud.org/ they have great info to help you out further.
Be careful in the future! =) |

First question that should have popped in your head. ARE THEY ASKING ME FOR MONEY?? If the answer is YES then, IT IS A SCAM. |
