That is a fairly common scam. The buyer bids an unbelievable high amount so high that it's impossible to out bid them. They want to pay you by check or money order in that amount BUT the send the check or money order for am amount significantly over the winning bid with the agreement that you deposit the check and send them the phone plus the difference back.
A few days later your bank finds out the check/money order was fake and not only are you out the $$ you are out the item as well.
Think about it. Why would someone in their right mind do that if it's not a scam? Would you pay twice as much for a used item as a new one would cost? |

There must be a problem as when you make a listing with both auction bidding and Buy it now once you have recieve a bid the buy it now function should automatically end.
Read the ebay policy on the help page. If the buyer doesnt pay DONT send the phone and report them to ebay.
When you do receive payment dont just rely on an email from paypal to confirm this "SIGN IN" to you paypal account and make sure the funds are actually there.
Buyers often bid well over the odds and then send an email which apears to be off paypal stating they have paid or they have paid and paypal are holding the payment untill you have supplied shipping details. This is a con. Paypal wont tell you they are holding money without it showing up in your account |

I am looking for a n95 8gb now on ebay so I can see whats the going price now. i have a theory, the bidders doing this to get your phone off the track and maybe they have there own phones at bidding at the moment. you should try to report to ebay or just get rid of the higher bids. |

This is interesting for once, perhabs someone is hopless at typing or missed the decimal point, or maybe they will send you a cheque for large amount, demand some back and their cheque will bounce. Or maybe there is a God. What phone is it? I might try to double my money too!
NB I have heard that this generous Government is paying for mobile phones so that foreigners can buy them to 'help' get a job so maybe it is an allowance for a foreigner OR FOR AN MPs SECOND HOME!!!!!!!!!!! so money won't matter as it is our cash they squander! |

Just DO NOT send the 4n out to the winning bidder till you have received full payment or if paying by check wait until the check has cleared. Some people get caught in a bidding war and then pull out ( they just cant stop hitting the bid now button) if they don't send payment report them and leave them negative feed back. |

Someone's doing a denial of service on N95s. They've all gone up to £918. It's unlikely to be a genuine bid. Wait until the end of the auction and see what eBay have to say. They'll probably relist them or free all once they've dealt with the troll. |

Ok if u can get rid of the buy it now price. Make sure when the person who wins it pays you the payment clears first (Especially if it is a check) and you physically have the money in your account before you send it out. If you do this you cant be scammed. If they do not pay as they entered the wrong amount or something then you can just relist the item. |

I'd get rid of the buy it now thing. I think it only works if the bid is below the buy it now amount. You can put a reserve on items so if the item does not get enough bids it won't be sold. So no you are not being scammed. I guess people just really want that phone and are bidding even higher amounts to ensure they get it. |

Check the highest bidders feedback. If if is really bad then cancel their bid. You can do this by looking through the help options on ebay under cancelling bids.
Hope this helps x |

i would be careful with this - sometimes people just like to be idiots and bid way over things to be spiteful then refuse to pay but that is quite rare. But then again on ebay everyone seems to pay over the odds on a lot of things i have seen it happen many times and they even ignore the buy it now price which is crazy i know but i was watching a car on there recently and people ignored the buy it now price bidding an extra £1000 on it- about £1000 more than the car is worth and that you can buy it anywhere else. Check the bidders feedback and if you feel uncomfortable or if they have a very low feedback score then feel free to cancel the bid and explain in the listing that you will not acept bids for the item from people with a feeback score of 5 or less etc |
