If you are looking pricing point of view then 12 oz can must cost you less than compare to small can because of volume. In business or selling as you go higher is volume (size of can) price must go down. Thin Margin high volume is always best formula for growing companies. OK now answer to your question, I think you should buy 8 oz can because your per oz cost is $0.1425 if you buy 8oz, whereas cost of 12 oz can is $0.1458 (per oz). I mean why to spend extra $0.61 when you can get that price anytime. |

$1.14 divided by 8 is $0.1425 an ounce
$1.75 divided by 12 is $0.14583 an ounce
So the 8 oz. one has the better unit price. |

the first one of 8 ounces they have a unit pric of .142= around 14 cents. the second one has .145= around 15 cents.
its pretty close, but if you want to be technical then the first one is correct.
i divided the price by the ounce. |

Divide $1.14 by 8. Divide $1.75 by 12. The smaller answer is the better value. |

the 8 oz can
i did 1.75 divided by 12 to find out how much the 12 oz can was per ounce which was 0.14
then multiplied that by 8 = $1.16
the 8 oz can is $1.14
while the 12 oz can at 8oz is $1.16 |

$1.14 divided by 2 (4oz because its a multiple of 12) = .57 per 4 oz. The 8 oz. is a better deal. .57*3=$1.71. |

i think it should be the 8 oz. can |

The 8 ounce costs less per ounce, but it would depend how much I needed. If I needed 12 ounces then I would buy that can rather than buy two 8 ounces and throw 4 ounces away. |

on no, we're not going to cheat, your going to learn how to do this :P
we want to know per unit price, so it's both in ounces.
so take 114 divide by 8, to get CENTS/oz.
take 175 divide by 12.
which ever one has lower cents is the better deal :P
good luck |

The common denominator for 8 and 12 is 4.
1.14/ 2 (the number of 4s)is .62.
3 (# of 4s in 12) *.62 is 1.76.
That makes the 12oz. can one penny cheaper by unit.
{ Or: 8/1.14= 7.017 (cents per ounce) 12/1.75= 6.857 (cents per ounce)} |
