The very first thing you need to know on eBay is that NOT EVERYTHING SELLS on ebay. Just browse through auctions that are closing and count how many you see that do not have a single bid. You don't want your auctions to end that way.
The only way is to sell the right products - products that fit well in ebay and has proven demand in ebay. eBay has several ways for you to determine exactly what the hot items to sell on their marketplace:
Items In Demand = the most popular items currently within that particular category. To see the In Demand page, go to http://pages.ebay.com/sellercentral/sellbycategory.html
Hot Items by Category Report = a monthly report that lists the fastest growing categories on eBay for the previous month. Go to http://pages.ebay.com/sellercentral/whatshot.html and select "Hot Items by Category" from the menu on the left.
eBay Pulse = "a daily snapshot of current trends, hot picks, and cool stuff on eBay". Go to http://pulse.ebay.com/ to see eBay Pulse in action.
Merchandising Calendar = eBay promotes specific categories on its home page each month. Savvy eBayers know that this home page exposure results in more interest in such categories. Go to http://pages.ebay.com/sellercentral/calendar.html to view the current Merchandising Calendar.

Go to swap meets and garage sales for stuff that you can turn on eBay. I've done a little of this and made a profit without really trying. Helps to live in the right kind of area. |

USE CAPS ON YOUR DESCRIPTION LINE, ALWAYS GIVE SIZE IN DESCRIPTION LINE. IN LOWER DESCRIPTION, ACCURATELY MEASURE AND LIST ITEMS. (THE SIZE IN IT ISN'T ALWAYS ACCURATE) AS FAR AS BUYING, BEWARE, READ THE WHOLE AD. USE PAYPAL UNLESS THE BUYERS/SELLERS HAVE SAY OVER 100 SALES/BUYS. FOR EXAMPLE: TURQUOISE ESPADRILES CORK 4" HEEL WITH TIES AROUND ANKLE SZ 7.5 (I BOUGHT THESE) LEOPARD BATHING SUIT SIZE 14. GET THE IDEA?? ALSO READ EBAY TIPS. |

Research on ebay what you plan to sell and see if the item is selling and if so for how much, then you'll know if you will make a profit. Good luck!! |

I've been an ebayer for about seven years and you should take good pics, be very descriptive in your ad, start with a low price and if it is a good item than I wouldn't worry about a reserve price. I think nice borders help with the advertising. Always get a confirmation of delivery, and mail your packages promptly. I have 100% positive feedback due to offering good customer service. |

I have been selling and buying on ebay for more than 7 years. Most important thing is to go by the feedback. Always check out the feedback of the seller if your buying something. See what the issue was on the complaints. The feedback score is very important. Its like your integrity rating for ebay. Guard yours carefully. |
