You mean, "Are Mexicans indigenous(sp?) to the Americas?" Yes, and no. The mexicans that are descendants of the Maya's and the Aztecs are. But, there are some Mexican's, like myself, that are of pure Spanish decent. There is a mixture though, now-a-days most Mexicans are mixed. |

Mexicans of Mayan or Aztec descent would be considered Native Americans. Mexicans of Spanish descent would not be. |

Many Mexican people's are a mix of native peoples, Spannish and other Europeans who conqured people's of the area. Many indigenious peoiples to that area were nomadic. So where they just happened to be at the time the boundries were drawn, were the "nationalities" imposed on them. |

Unlike in the US and Canada where Native Americans were massacred or shoved onto reservations, the Spaniards married the natives they found. A great deal if not the majority of Mexicans are of mixed descent (Spaniard and Native American) called mestizos.
There are of course many pure blood natives in Mexico. Unlike American and Canadian schools, Mexicans learn about the culture and language of the original natives of their land and have learned to respect past civilizations. |

The therm "Mexican" is only used politcally to refer to someone from the country of mexico or or mexican descent. They can be from anywhere in the past but in the present they are either born in mexico or have taken citizenship there. |
