They are not real. They are scams in a way. All they are looking for is to get your information. Once they have your information they will send all kinds of crap and put you on advertisement lists. You will get something small and petty for free, but it is not really worth it.

scams; i signed up for one once on accident (by that i mean it didn't appear to be a scam site and didn't have the typical ads) and although i DID get my promised free ringtone, it signed me up for three different paid services and an online text-message dating service... and i was thirteen. i'd stay away from theym, they aren't worth the risks.
however, looking at trusted sources might get you into the occasional free promo... the kinds that aren't scams.
