I remember going through this question!
I am guessing you are anxious to get a first job... which is good!
The age all depends on the state you live in. Where I am from.... a select few will hire at 14 or 15. Such as grocery stores, daycares, etc.
Then there are places that hire at 16 -- retail, restaurants, coffee shops, etc.
It seems like more and more places are wanting their employees to be at least 18.
Even if you are unable to find a job, babysitting and yard work can really pay off.
Print out flyers, advertise in the newspaper or the public library.
If you really want a part time job, find out what kind of places you want to work. Retail, waitressing, fast food, children, etc. Then after you find out what kind of places you want to work, go through your phonebook and call EvERY place that interests you... when you call, ask the if they are hiring and at which age they start hiring.
Make a list as you go... and when you accumulate some possibilities, go in and pick up some applications.
After that... its smooth sailing!

you can only get a job when ur 16, but u can also get a job if ur 15, only if u have a reason, like...., ur parents r disabled and u have to take care of them, something like that. but don't lie cuz that's very very very badddd! lol! jk! lol! |

Well here in the city of chicago you can work at the age of 14 but you need a govt permit, which you can get at your school. And at 16 you dont need one but you can only work 4 hours a day. |

Depending on where you live, you can get a workers permit at 14 or 15, but most companies won't acknowledge them (due to insurance reasons) but at 16 you can get a job almost anywhere with out a permit (some places still may require you to be 18). Also when you work at 16, you are only allowed 4 hours a day and 8 on weekends. And you can only work until a certain time on school nights.. However if you are no longer in school (no matter the reason) you CAN work full time. |

You CAN get a job when you're 15 because I did. I just turned 16 and I have been working at a grocery store for over 7 months. So it is possible, and my parents aren't disabled or anything like that. Just look and ask around local businesses where you live. I'm sure you'll find something. |
