What it was was like this: Barbie and Ken broke up (I think it had to do with she was seeing G.I. Joe behind Ken's back and Ken didn't want to get into a fight, even though Joe said Ken was anatomically correct). So then, in addition to the Malibu Playhouse Barbie and the Corvette Convertible Barbie, there was also the Divorce Barbie. (That Barbie was a lot more expensive, because she came with all Ken's stuff too.) So Ken got mad and went to work. He went to the gym and got ripped. He got toned, got tan and got a better job. He got a new wardrobe. Then he went to his uncle who is a Congressman, and the next thing you know G.I.Joe was shipped off to Afghanistan where he's getting his plastic buns shot off. Presto! no more problem for Ken! He moved back in with Barbie, and the word is that he FINALLY wants to make their relationship official so that this never happens again. He's learned his lesson.
To all you Kens out there, don't let this happen to you! If you take Barbie for granted, there might be a G.I. Joe waiting to move in! |

The Barbie doll was invented in 1959 by Ruth Handler (co-founder of Mattel), whose own daughter was called Barbara. Barbie was introduced to the world at the American Toy Fair in New York City. The doll was intended to be a teenage fashion doll. There has been some controversy over Barbie's figure when it realized that if Barbie was a real person her measurements would be an impossible 36-18-38. The Ken doll was named after Ruth's son. Barbie first had bendable legs in 1965.

After fighting breast cancer and undergoing a mastectomy in 1970 Ruth Handler, one of the creators of the Barbie Doll, surveyed the market for a suitable prosthetic breast. Disappointed in the options available, she set about designing a replacement breast that was more similar to a natural one. In 1975, Handler received a patent for Nearly Me, a prosthesis made of material close in weight and density to natural breasts. |

I read in newsweek that after Barbie and the Austrailian boogie boarder broke up, Ken would do anything to get Barbie back. He is getting a new nose job. I do not know how accurate this is, but is pretty accurate. Vist barbie.com for more information. |
