You can turn them in for charging too much, Go to Ebay Complaint department

Yup thats how it works, looks like a good deal..extortionate postage fees..this is one where e-bay should step in.

You know the price.

If it's too much then don't bid.

if something costs £2 postage then there is packaging and the time to pack it and post it.

Yes, they're just greedy. They're effectively including their ebay and paypal fees in the postage costs which just isn't cricket. I tend to not buy from people like that and wait for a more honest seller.

its a scam ... most people dont realise that the shipping cost is set by the seller and neglectfully purchase the item thinking that the shipping couldnt be more than a cople dollars right????

i bought a phone gadget from a twat in leicester, the person now refuses to send it. tell em to fukkoff

gavinwhyman
Because they don't pay fee's to eBay on the postage, just the final price of the item. This means you'll get a better deal than if the seller (via you) has to pay more to eBay.

Just use a little common sense and take this into account when you make your bids.

Just do what I do, if it looks like the postage is too high, then buy from someone else. There are usually many sellers on ebay, so you can usually find another one. Postage on packages has been, greatly, increased recently. But some of these people charge way more than they should. You should add the postage to the total cost of the item and be sure that it is worth the total cost to you. The postage is always there for you to check, so if you don't agree with it, don't buy! You should also complain to the seller, if they realize that they are losing sales due to that, maybe they will stop!

Free enterprise is just that free enterprise. You are under no obligation to buy their goods just as they are free to charge whatever they want to. Supply and demand. If you want the items then you pay the price or move on. If you can go down to the local walmart and find the item then good for you.

It is really just a pychological ploy like pricing an item at $9.99 when you are really asking $10. The mind's eye sees $9.99 and triggers a buying signal that would not otherwise trigger at $10. The same is true for ebay pricing. You believe you are getting a bargain and convince yourself of that despite paying an extra 20% in shipping and handling.

1. Sometimes it's a ripoff and they're just looking to jack up their selling price while appearing cheap.

2. They are allowed to charge "handling" in addition to shipping. I did this when I was shipping HEAVY equipment - after all - shouldn't I get some compensation for my labour?

3. Other times, they're selling something that they're selling at or near cost so they add a few pounds to the shipping for their profit. This is reasonable.

Sounds like you're in category 1 - sorry to hear it.
