I put in the winning bid for a playstation 2 on eBay last week (£rd June). I paid for it through Paypal immediately, but still haven't received the item. Iemailed the seller on last week, he replied to me on Thursday and said he posted it that day. Still no sign of it, I emailed him last night and again tonight but I'm not getting any response.
I know there's a buyer's complaints procedure throught Paypal that I can use, where I file aclaim saying that I never received the item.
Just wanted to know whether anyone else has gone through this process before - if so, how long does it take to get your money back? And how likely is it that your money would be refunded?
Any advice much appreciated.

Also- no, I didn't take any insurance out, I knew that using Paypal offered some protection. |

Set up an item not received claim through PayPal. It's quite easy and straightforward to use and often shocks people into sending your stuff (I've had to use it a few times).
If it still doesn't arrive, you'll get your money back after about a month. |

Whoa slow down, what kind of shipping did you use? If it's standard shipping it can take two weeks or more to arrive. What's the feedback rating on this guy? If he's got a couple and they're 100% then it could be just a delay in shipping. |

Email the seller again and tell them that if they do not respond you will be forced to go through the process, i had someone not post out to me and then ignore emails when i told him this he emailed straight back said he had been on his hols and posted it out straight away along with a free dvd to go with it. good luck. you are protected by pay pal though so don't worry. |

YES, I HAVE AN ANSWER FOR THIS. I too was screwed like this, but the seller kept putting me off until it was past 30 days. Paypal will insure a transaction up to 30 (if they haven't changed this rule). ACT NOW. Paypal will tell you to make several attempts to contact the seller, keeping each email handy to send to them for proof. I think they insure up to $5,000.00. If you wait until past 30 days, you are cooked. |

I have complained through paypal for items I never recieved from america I got a refund within 20 days. This was due to the seller not bothering to answer my last 3 emails through paypal system. When you go through paypal you have a period of emailing each other through paypal and then if you can't sort it out you can go to make a claim, but be aware that if the seller can provide details that he had posted the item i.e a tracking number then you may not be able to claim your money.
How was the item being delivered? if there is a tracking number go to you postal service and ask them if it as been posted, with some you can check the tracking number online.
Try and sort it out with the seller before having to go through paypal but go to paypal and it will give you advice on what to do.

I used to work for a company that did business on eBay, so I know a little bit about this sort of thing.
Look at the seller's profile and feedback. Is it their business to sell on eBay or is it a private individual who's just trying to sell an unwanted item. If it's a business, it's unlikely they're trying to rip you off (if they were, they wouldn't be using paypal). Also, check their feedback, do they have a lot of positive feedback? Don't worry about the odd negatives, no one's perfect and a lot of buyers are quick to post negative feedback before giving the seller a chance to respond and resolve the situation.
You said that they've sent the item Thursday, which isn't that long for a large item, unless you've paid extra for next day delivery. As for the emails you've sent, don't panic, a lot of sellers get a huge amount of email. When I worked for a company selling on eBay, we'd get around 400-500 per day! It can be tough to get through them all, especially when most of them are asking stupid questions which they wouldn't have to ask if they actually read the auction page. The problem is your email is somewhere in the sea of junk email.
My advice would be to wait until Thursday, giving a week for the item to arrive. If you haven't got it by then, contact the seller. The important thing is to be polite, don't throw around accusations of being ripped off, they want you to get a good service so you'll buy from them again and leave positive feedback. People are more helpful when you're polite. Ask them if they have a reference number from the courier so you can contact them, there's always a chance that they've tried to deliver it when you were out, sometimes they leave a card asking if you could collect it, but these can easily get lost amongst the rest of you mail.
Contacting Paypal is a last resort, but if you get no help from the seller after you've done all this, then you have no other choice. |

just try zeusbay.com there a great ebay alternative that have many of the same features as ebay. its very affordable like $2 a month for unlimited listings. no final value fees. instantly accept paypal. ebay is outragous with there fees i would never pay that much when there are sites like zeusbay that is affordable. |

Hi Yes i have tried this system and logging complaint gives the supplier more time to sort the issue out- try it and it can always be resolved amicably without anyone getting any bad marks against them if the issue is resolved satisfactorily. Good luck |

Royal Mail take longer delivering large "letters", so I'd say wait a while. What sort of time did the seller indicate on the offer? Use that as a guide.
If it still doesn't turn up and you don't get any satisfaction from the seller report it via ebay and they'll arbitrate. |

He should really prove that he posted it! Was registered post offered? If so, then he should have a tracking ticket - get the number off him.

Make allowances for postal delays....especially if it is crossing international frontiers. |

As the parcel wasn't sent by recorded or special delivery you have no way of tracking it. Who knows if it was ever posted!
I placed a complaint to Paypal once for a CD that was never delivered and I received no response from the seller. I took a while for a decent response from them, but they failed to retrieve the money as the seller had already claimed the funds I had given (his Paypal account was empty) They said the case would be left open for 3 months and further action would be taken. Nothing happened as the seller closed his account. If the seller is an Ebay regular it may be worth while placing complaints on both Ebay and Paypal.

It can take up to ten days to arrive - blame the post office on some occasions - if he sent it second class/cheapest method it may still be in the system.
BUT if it doesn't arrive - by the end of this week inform PayPal - they nearly always side with the buyer and you will get your money back IF the seller has the PayPal protection up to £500 logo. |
