Posted ad on gumtree. Buyer wants me to post item to Nigeria and pay via postal order. All I got is an email with shipping reference. It says money will come in account once item is received. Any advice pls as I'm confused if its trustworthy transaction? Pls help

No - DO NOT send the item until you have the money cleared in your account. To be honest, I would just avoid the whole thing - a lot of scams come from nigeria. Don't do it you will be ripped off. He will receive the item and not send you payments - you will hear nothing further from him and there isn't anything you can do about it.
