It appears that Wonder has a giant boil on his furry bottom. I regret to inform you that he will not be in today.

Simply say "I am not feeling very well today...."
I am not sure one needs to give any specific reason why.
I actually called in sick after a pet passed away ... :( |

Just say you need to see the proctologist. No further explanation will be necessary--and who would lie about something like that?
Besides me. |

That greatly depends on your companies policy on calling in. Some companies have a written policy on what is the acceptable procedure for calling in, some companies are not as strict. If you are going to call in sick, it should definitely be for something that does affect your ability to do your job. As far as knowing the details of the reason you stated above, as a office manager, no I would not want to know the details of that! lol! A simple "I am calling in, I have a medical issue that needs to be addressed" would suffice for me. As long as you are not in the habit of calling in a lot, I would not question that statement. |

Well, when this (didn't) happen to me either, I called in & said that I wouldn't be able to make it in, I was having problems sitting down. ;-) |

Although not an employer, I would call in and tell them that you will be absent from work today due to personal medical reasons. If you plan on going to the doc about it, inform your employer of that as well and bring them a doctors slip. I wouldnt go into much detail, but tell them it is serious enough that you do not need to come in. |

I am now a stay at home mom, but I have been in several management positions in the past. If an employee who was a hard worker and was rarely absent called in and merely said they didn't feel well then that was usually good enough for me. However, if it was a slacker who laid out of work all the time I usually required a more lengthy explanation.
As someone above already mentioned, it also depends on if your workplace has a strict policy and procedure on calling in. |

say you won't be in because you have to see a dr. |

it isnt your employers right to know every little detail about you that happens outside of work. just give a simple "hey this is (state name) and im not feeling well, im gonna need to call in sick or i wont be able to come to work today due to me not feeling well. any private thing should be consulted with you and someone close you know or a doctor. |

You could say you are having a female issue and will not be able to come to work. This only works if you are in fact female lol... but usually a male boss won't ask for details. You can always say you have an ongoing issue that is being treated. |

I would just call in and say that you were sick. Unless you know your boss well enough to tell them the problem. If you have to go to the doctor then tell them you are going to the doctor and you can bring them a note from the doctor. |

If I were your employer, I would have to have proof positive of your ailment. It would save you a doctor's visit, also.:) |
