depends on the type of phone you want. if it's a cell phone, motorola makes very good phones that have reasonable price. then go with a good cell provider and your good to go. a normal house phone, again motorola make good phones. but if you want a answering machine combo, go for an at&t combo. it holds about 10 hrs of messages and is also cordless.

I would get the cheapest pay-as-you-go phone you can find (about £20). You won't be a target for muggers.

You can get brand name phones at Target or Walmart for a lot less than at a phone store.

i have a cordless phone. it is a panasonic. it has intercom, speaker phone, and the answering machine built in. nice phone. got it at wal-mart for like $45.00. and it also has all kinds of different ring tones,(like a cell phone has) really neat.
