I sell kids bagpacks on eBay and want to save money on buying boxes. Can I buy those big rolls of brown paper (The Grocery paper bag material kind) to save on purchasing boxes? I want to charge as cheap as possible and save.
But is that allowed to wrap up an item with that kind of paper?
And were can I buy it?
Oh, I plan of shipping regular first class mail or priority mail. Usually runs around $6 to 8 dollars depending on the weight & destination too. |

I think you are allowed to ship that way and you can get those rolls at any supply store or department store. However, the post office will complain about it. They don't like it because it is easy for the paper to rip and be removed, then your mail is just lost. I tried it once but they pitched such a fit I never did it again. |

My tip to you is to find somewhere where they will give you their leftover shipping boxes for free. If you are shipping priority, use USPS Priority boxes.
I buy the craft paper (brown paper) for wrapping my books that I sell via ebay. It works great, but I wouldn't use it for something softer. Once it gets a hole in it, it will just keep tearing until it falls off. You can get it for cheap at walmart. |

Instead of buying paper like that, why not just go to the grocery store and ask them to pack your groceries in paper bags. Then just cut the paper bags so you can use that paper |

sure, but best to check with your carrier to be sure they can insure it in the manner in which you pack it.
the USPS (post office) and UPS will take just about anything. Fed Ex and DHL have tighter restrictions for packaging.
I use grocery store paper bags and good clear plastic tape.
Leave the upper right corner un taped for the postage. |

first check with the post office to see if they'll accept that - not sure they will -
to buy it all you have to do is call a local office supply company and ask them for a roll of "brown kraft paper" usually they come in 36" or 24" wide rolls - maybe even 48" |

Or hit up alocal grocery or department store up for boxes - usually behind the building in some kind of dumpster or compactor. Free boxes are cheap enough... |

Yes.
Ask your local newspaper, they often have big rolls of those paper.
Legally, you can stick a stamp on a shoe and send it, without wrapping it at all. We just wrap things because it makes it easier for stacking. |
