you could put the 'buy it now' option on, but if they are that keen make them bid so that they push the price up

WHO am i?

Stick with the rules just in case.

I wouldn't do it. People who email you before the auction is over and wants to pay a high price are generally out to scam you.

Like the first person said, put in a "Buy It Now" (if you still can) and if the buyer's serious, he'd do it. But I've yet to see things like that to be legit.

It's a scam. If you email them back agreeing to it they will want to send you a check (it will be from a stolen or fake or closed account). They will ask you to ship it to an address out of this country. By the time you realize the check is fraudulent you will be screwed. As they other posters said set up a buy it now auction for them and let them handle it through ebay. Good Luck

Write to their private email and thank them for their interest, and refer them back to the auction to place their bid.
My experience with this type of thing on Ebay is that the person feels the item is going to go for more than what they want to pay, so they try this to sidestep the process. I was selling some model cars and someone emailed me to buy all of them for $300. You kind of think it might be worth it to take the $300 and run, but I ended up making $746 for them and followed the Ebay policy.

put a buy it now price on the item at the price they have offered and e.mail them to buy it now and thats it

shygirl93
Don't do it!

oo_siouxsie_oo
Yeah you can write to their private email but you should tell them that you will set up a buy it now auction for them and that you wont sell outside of ebay. It's against ebay rules to complete a sale outside of ebay, they would probably never find out if you did it but it means you wont have any protection from ebay if it all goes wrong.

ETA Contact buyer and agree on a price, end your current auction with the reason 'error in listing', start a new auction with the buy it now price (you might be able to use the relist feature and get your fees back), email buyer with the link to your new auction.

You don't say what the item is, but if it's a mobile phone, laptop, jewellery or other higher value item, beware.

It's a regular thing for scammers to request that you sell to them right away. You receive a spoof payment notification, send the item out - usually to Nigeria - then find you've lost your money and your item.

If it's a lower value item, it's still very bad practice and it is against eBay rules to end your listing just because someone asks you but theoretically, you could do it. In which case you should then set up a new buy it now listing for your buyer, to keep within the rules.

You can ask in the UK eBay Answer Centre for best advice, if you think you might have a scammer contacting you

There's a couple reasons that they are writing. Either they are a scam, or they know the actual value of it and they want to buy it quickly so it doesn't get as high as it should.

Don't do it. Let the auction run it's course. If it's a popular item, then you will make a lot more by selling it through eBay. You don't get in trouble by selling it outside of eBay, but you also aren't protected.

Keep their email, and if it doesn't sell, then send them an email when it's finished and sell it to them then.

Keep in mind, that you will get about 90% of your activity in the last 5 minutes and that is when your value will skyrocket. In fact, I don't even bid until the last 42 seconds....and I rarely lose. ;)

Good luck!!

Adding a Buy It Now option can still be an option if there are no bids yet on the item. But if there are bids on it already, you may have that person bid on your item. They need to make sure that they're the highest bidder because you may end your listing early and sell it to the highest bidder. Though the sale price will be the amount that they'll place on their bid.

If they insist on having you end the listing without them bidding on it and they're offering a high amount for the item, that is a common recipe for a scam on eBay. Don't transact with this kind of person if that's the case.

If you agree a price satisfactory to you you can end your listing early using the "item no longer available" reason.

people are telling you the emailer will be a scammer. RUBBISH! But, they COULD be, so do not let the item go before any payment is fully cleared. People offering to buy off ebay is quite common. I bought a car like that - the guy was, as executor, clearing his late fathers estate and needed a quick sale as the property was sold and he had no off road parking himself. I offered him his opening price payable in cash the next day if inspection showed the car fairly described. He agreed, i bought it. used it for 18 months and resold it for 800 pounds more than i paid for it.

I'am God's Girl
You go in and edit the auction piece and you can agree on a price and let them purchase it that way.

No problems and ebay doesn't care.

Just add a "Buy it Now!" price to your item and you will not get in trouble if they choose to buy it immediately at the price you select to add to your "Buy it Now" ebay product posting.
