YES! That is completely illegal - plus if you let him get away with it he will continue to do it. DO NOT let him walk on you. That is just not cool. I am sorry you have to work for that pri**! |

Yes! you should press charges against your boss. There is no excuse....it shouldnt matter if he has a drinking problem or if you turned your reports in late noone has a right to put their hands on you especially at a place of work. You should also ask your co workers about it see if he has physically done anything to them this could be a serious matter i wouldnt look over it just because he drinks |

Your company should have safety workplace policy that contains rules & regulations for employees & employers acts. Please talk to your Human Resource in a hope he or she can help you with this matter. You have to press charge your boss whether you aren't mad. Give him a lesson. This may affect you losing your job. Therefore you're better looking for better job before you decided to do it. Good luck, I'm on your side. |

He Has NO Right to hit you even if he drinks You can press charges for assault. I would Press charges because if he did this to you and if you have any one who is a witness that would even help you more but call the Police Now and explain to them what happened he should NOT disrespect you and to slap you I would put him in Jail for assault charges as soon as you can. |

This is a case where you can make a lot of money if everything goes right.
When you file charges against someone for anything, and there are no witnesses then it is simply your word against his, and without any proof whatsoever he basically walks and he will be legally able to fire you for filing false charges no matter what state you are in.
So I tell you what you can do. First, get a very expensive voice activated mini-recorder, but with the option to just turn the recording feature "on". I say expensive and voice activated(like 35-40 bucks or more but make sure it uses a tape, you don't want his lawyer saying that maybe you manipulated a digital recording on a computer ) because they are more sensitive than the cheapies. hide it on you where the built in microphone is pointing towards the person you are talking to but where the recorder is well hidden. Then when you two are alone directly ask him why he hit you. And I mean say exactly "Why did you slap my face on (day or date of week) when you thought I was going to turn in the (whatever kind of reports they are) late?"
But make sure you say slap in the face or hit.
If he answers and either admits or apologizes or says something like I don't know why I did that. then take that tape and make a copy and THEN go to the police and a lawyer.
Once you have him on tape admitting it, whether or not you press charges, or even if you do and he is found innocent you can still sue for a LOT of money(I'm talking the kind of money that if you are used to making 30 grand a year you may never have to work again).
A few more details like what kind of company(big corp. or his own) and what state would have been helpful. The reason knowing the state is helpful is because a few states make it illegal to record a conversation, but not many. It's usually not too hard to find out on the net about such laws.
If it is a big corporation and you get the recording of him admitting then you can go to the human resources department(or whatever they call it) with the copy(never the original(in fact make a few copies and let a good friend hold the original or put it in a safe deposit box) an explain to them that you want him gone right NOW. Also tell them you want to speak to someone about monetary compensation because you are thinking about suing.(but refuse to give details). After that, let them have the tape, but explain it is merely an exact copy of the conversation. They will get back to you very soon. If they offer an amount then take that and go to a lawyer that does NOT specialize in suing companies and ask him if it is reasonable.(a company that does nothing but sue will ALWAYS tell you it is low and say they can probably get you a lot more).
If he owns the company then you have no choice but to go straight to a lawyer if you get that recording and follow his directions exactly. |

If you are not really mad at him, then you dont necessarily have to press charges against your boss. If you want to, though, you can turn this in as an assault case, and press charges, but do wat u want. |

Yes, you should press charges. Not only for the smacking, but for the drinking as well. Employees are not allowed to drink on the job, and boss or no boss, he isn't allowed either! |

yes, you can press charges against him! you have rights that are against violence in your work place.
Everyone has the right to feel safe at work without the risk of getting injured. You should not be threatened, harassed or bullied at work.
If you’re the victim of workplace violence or crime, there’s help available.
Workplace violence includes things like:
-Someone threatening to hurt you
-Being pushed, punched, kicked or shoved
-Having things thrown at you
-Racist or unwelcome sexual comments
-Indecent physical contact, like being felt up
What you can do if you're an employee
Under the OHS Act you have the right to refuse to work if you’re in immediate danger.
Here are five steps you should take to deal with violence or bullying:
-Tell your employer what happened .
-Take photos of any injuries (go to the doctor and get a WorkCover -medical certificate if needed)
-Get help (from places like Job Watch, your union or a solicitor)
-Keep a record of what happens to you and hang onto any evidence (like medical certificates, WorkCover claims and any physical evidence like emails or photos) |

Was it just you and him alone? Can you prove it?If you can I would first go to HR and then the police. If you can prove it this man needs to be stopped.Does he do this to his family? If you cannot prove it he could sue you and possibly win. |
