A Walk in the Woods - by Bill Bryson
Inexperienced writer takes assignment to hike Appalachian Trail, hysterically funny in places.

I don't know what a 'Chicklit' is, but one great book that I've read is "Wicked" by Gregory Maguire. It really makes you think about what wickedness really is, but it's also really enjoyable. Also "the Wizard of Oz" is really good if you haven't already read it. Finally, I read these a couple of years ago, but the series "His Dark Materials" by Philip Pullman is really interesting and it's a fantasy. The first one is "the Golden Compass". |

The DaVinci Code by Dan Brown or any of his other books. They're fast paced page turners that intertwine fiction with reality. The DaVinci Code will also be in movie theaters this May. It will be interesting to see what the movie leaves out. |

"The Da Vinci Code" and/or "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown.. excellent books - I personally read them both in under three days! :o) If you want thrillers and suspence, Thomas Harris' books are great. If you want funny laugh-out-loud crime, the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich are absolutely wicked! So far, the series total 11 books. Definitely worth a read. "Runaway Jury" by John Grisham is also a good book, if you're more into the legal thing. |

Born Identity by Robert Ludlum - interesting plot, lots of action.
Gone With the Wind by M. Mitchel - classical story with quite a bit of history discribed in there - not a difficult read, some educational value as well as nice love story.
Anything by Steven King - if you like dark side of human beings. (Misery was very good, IT, Pet Semetry).
Desert Flower by Waris Dirie - serious book, about Somalian women, worth a read though. |
