Can anyone with experience on buying/ selling on ebay help me out?
I'm going to open an ebay account to start selling things I don't need anymore. I have some questions still.
-What do I need to create an ebay account?
-How does paypal work? Do I put info about my bank account or just a certain credit card?
-When mailing the product, who pays for mailing it and how do I mail it?
-How safe is it?

Hello,

Here are the answers to your questions:

1. To create an ebay account, go to eBay.com and click the signup link. To sell, you will need a credit card, bank account, and your personal info.

2. Paypal is an online bank that eBay owns. Put your bank info if required (recommended so you can transfer your money to your account free). You can signup fairly quickly (although they usually make a deposit into your bank so you can confirm your account, and that takes a couple of days sometimes).

3. You can either charge shipping, or give free shipping (but obviously charge a little more). It is up to you completely! You are the boss! I would recommend shipping through the post office, as they are almost always cheapest. They have free boxes & envelopes if you send priority, however, it may be cheaper to send standard mail. You can look up rates at usps.com. eBay also has a shipping calculator if you can estimate the weight, and it will give the proper shipping rate to the buyer based on their zip.

4. It is safe, but you have to ship to their confirmed address on the payment page, and you MUST get delivery confirmation from the USPS to show proof it was delivered (you need to get signature proof if it is over $250).

Listen, I have done this stuff for years, and it is hard when you start out. But I know it like the back of my hand. If you have any other questions, ask me by using the "ASK ME" button from my blog below. I will be happy to help you out!

There are also some free templates you can use to sell your items!

Best of luck!

i think you need valid credit card to open ebay account.
you need a bank account for paypal.
you specify a shipping amount for each auction, so the buyer pays for shipping. you mail it at post office, UPS, Fedex, etc.
it is very safe. Paypal will cover you when you buy in case the seller does not fulfill their part of the deal.

I believe they'll ask for your real name and street address.
You can connect paypal to a credit card or bank account. They verify it by charging a small amount, when you log back in and tell them how much it was, you get it back.
Generally the buyer pays shipping although you can set it up however you want. You decide whether or not you will ship international, and what shipping options you will offer. The packing and shipping is the biggest pain if you're selling a bunch of things all different. For big stuff you can put it for local pickup only. I sold a few dozen things and haven't had any problems.

you can use a debit or credit card. you pay for shippin if u buy somethin. if u sell id invest in a scale. its safe. u will have a few as$ holes that dont buy or pay when they say. make sure u have a min. bid!!! i put a bid on goretex gloves for 25$ -she wont sell them now! im callin ebay asap on fri. its been 2 months without a reply cause she now wants 100$ for them-she shouldve said buy it now for 100$. as soon as u get a account dont use the same name as ur email or passwords-screen name--it wont go thru. good luck

excellent...when you open your paypal account make sure you verify it buy adding your bank account and setting direct debit so that paypal gives you two little payments and then you entre them on your paypal account to verify it

to creat ur account all i think all you need is a valid email and a date of birth saying you are of 18+, im not 4sre cas its been so long ago since i created mine. the paypal thing im not for sure but whn mailing you can set the product up as were they pay or you pay. or you can have them pay half and you pay half. just put on the shipping how ever much you need them to pay. i think its pretty safe as long as you got gud spyware.

to create an ebay account you dont need anything. you just sign up.
im not quite sure how paypal works cause i dont use it.
the buyer pays for shipping. there is the price of the item you set and the shipping cost. so you pay to ship it but you get the money back. you can go to ups or any shipping store.
ebay is really safe. i have used it for 5 years to sell my old stuff. the only thing i could think of that you would need to worry about is if the seller has a bad rating. i have a rule, if the sellers rating is 93% or lower dont buy from them. and the sellers rating is in the right hand corner on the product page.

hope i helped you!!! (:

paypal uses a crdit or debit card, you only nee to put the details in once when creating the account. plus paypal offer insurance when items are bought with it.

mailing is usually specified as a seperate cost, the buyer usually pays for it. but you can build it in to the price of the goods.

it fairly safe if your buying from a trusted dealer.

its easy to set up, when selling items it takes you through a step by step guide. wont let you go wrong. you just need an email account to set a ebay account up, plus a debit/credit card if you want to set up a paypal account as well. but you can take cheques or bank drafts as payments if you prefer. just dont post goods till it has cleared

You need a paypal account and address, etc. to make an ebay account

Paypal is the account to pay for items on ebay. It is based of of a balance and a credit card

buyer pays shipping asnd u mail it through UPS or USPS

it safe as long as you pick a power seller (1000 sold or more) that has a good feedback rating
