Why are people more famous after they've died? |
| For example, Rosa Parks died perhaps a few months ago, and there are many billboards in her memory. I'm not saying that it's a bad thing, but don't you think a person would enjoy it ... |

Unfortunately they do do this!
What I would do is to ring up the bank, and say that you are aware that you can claim these charges back through the courts, but it would be much easier if they refunded them for you. Be firm, but polite, and theres a good chance if this is the first time its happened you`ll get the charges reversed.
Its not worth going through the claims process for £75, but if you do have other charges from any time in the last 6 years, it would be worth it.
Have a look at my site below which has detailed step by step guides to claiming your bank charges back, the latest news and developments about bank charges, and forums for one to one support.
So far the site has helped many people claim back thousands of pounds from a range of banks and building societies!
The site is completely free to use! |

Is it first direct by any chance?!
Any charges made by the bank are reclaimable, have a look here:

They cant take charges without giving 14 days notice. Was the £50 a charge or was it to cover the overspending? If a charge then threaten your bank with going to the financial ombudsman... they'll refund ya |

Go onto this link below:

Read that and then download the letter they have already got on the website. Just fill that in and you will get your money back, banks will try their hardest to ignore the letter but keep on at them and they will give it all back.
Good luck..!!!!! |

They have to give you notice. As peole are saying threaten them with your rights. They will have to refund you in the end. Good luck. |

ring the citizens advice bureau to find out what your rights are. I am sure they have to give you at least 14 days notice in writing of what charges they are debiting from your account. i am in the process of taking mine to court! good luck |

if you have an electron card you can get your money back as it would be their fault for authorising the transaction. if you have a normal visa debit card then they can charge you. they do however have to give prior notification that they are taking the charge. also you need to find out why they will be charging you again for £25, this sounds like its an unauthorised overdraft fee so i would recommend you put some money in the account to bring the balance back up to avoid it. |

I don't know English law, but my best surmise is the bank is at fault for clearly the electronic debit without sufficient funds in the account. The approval codes merchants receive are supposed to mean the account contains sufficient funds to cover the transacted amount. It sounds to me like your bank is engaged in a fees swindle. Some U.S. Banks have tried pulling the same rubbish and one of them (the largest one) was fined $122 million for this kind of thing. |

Banks do charge overdraft fees . if their covering a zero balance, in your account. but you should go in and ask them to reverse half of those charges , sounds like they went over board. |
