When that happens my employer always deposited it the day before the holiday. |

I agree with the answer from Lea. Your employer could pay you earlier if they wanted to -- since this is what most companies do.
However, I would check with the Labor Commission rules in your state. The rules may require that you get paid on a regular schedule, holiday or no holiday. The rules may require that they mail your check early enough that it reaches you BEFORE the holiday. If it arrives afterward, they are in violation of the law.
Good Luck!! |

That depends on how your pay period is set up. For example I get paid the 15th and 30th of each month; however if either one of those days is a weekend or holiday it is the day prior to. It sounds like laziness on your employer's part. |

Most bigger companies will always pay you early over a holiday weekend.. for example if you normally get paid on a Monday and Monday is a holiday then your paycheck will be directly deposited in on the Friday before... Most big business companies.. I bet you work for someone or a small business and they can't financially do it... They may not get paid because of the holiday and there are no funds to give you earlier than normal.... If that is the case then find a bigger and more stable company to work for. |

My employers always deposited my checks the day before the payday/holiday if it was on a weekday. |

As long as they mail you a physical check, there's nothing wrong with it. Even if it is inconvenient. |

They may deposit it the day before or the day after, or merley set it up to be depoisit on that day but it will not actually go in until the next business day.
Our company don't issue any physcial checks to anyone ever.
If a holiday falls on payday, the check will normally be deposited the next business day |

Usually when you are hired and sign up for direct deposit the employer will discuss with you what the policy is for payday falling on a weekend or federal holiday, I've had direct deposit before and we were always paid on the Friday before the payday if payday was a Saturday, Sunday (or federal holiday on Monday). If your employer says that cannot do that, ask to see a written statement of policy so you can better understand it, but in all likelihood they are NOT lying to you about their policy regarding holidays and paydays. This probably isn't much help, sorry, it's one of those things you just have to learn to live with and when you see it coming up on the calendar budget appropriately so you have enough funds to cover things until the physical check has a chance to get to you through the mail. |
