Instead of using a drug as a crutch, use self control. |

Ive heard it makes you eat more. Weight gain is a side effect. Prozac is an awful drug, you should not mees with your chemistry. It has been proven over and over to make people worse and create uncontrollable rage and suicidal thought and ideation with 10% attempting it. Also when you stop your brain does not know how to function properly leaving you worse than when you started. It can lead to a lifelong dependance on drugs, illegal and legal. There are SO mANY reasons not to take this besides weightgain. It is a very serious medicine based on faulty doctored research.

Why would you do that to your body? It is the only one you will get. Try to take care of it with diet and exercise. |

Prozac is an antidepressant, and a bad one at that. One side effect that affects 10% is suicidal thoughts. Don't get messed up with this drug for casual reasons. There are better ways to curb your appetite. (Consult a dietitian.) |

I'm not sure it makes my 5yr old eat more. But he takes it for OCD. |

medical drugs will only make your body functions worse.
I suggest having a stronger mind. |

prozac is not an apetite supressant. it can be prescribed for weight loss, but only if the doctor thinks the weight gain was initiated because of depression. |

i have heard that many anidepressants supress appetite when you are first on them as a side effect, but then after that they can cause major weight gain. please stay the heck away from them. they will alter your personality. especially prozac. i had a good friend that took the stuff and was a really nice girl but went kind of coo coo and lost her marriage because of it. when you are on the stuff you just don't care about anything; you let your guard way down and do things you wouldn't normally do, especially if you do not have actual clinical depression. please try something natural!!! one tip i have heard of is to brush your teeth with a strong minty tooth paste after each meal because food tastes gross on top of that! one a day weight smart vitamins do this but they also make you feel a little hyper (they have caffeine) but i think caffeine is safer than prozac. my grandfather was given prozac when he was hospitalized from cancer (he was not clinically depressed, just overwhelmed at the prognosis) he was one of the sharpest people i have ever known, but after they gave him prozac, he got all loopy and didn't know who my mom was at times. take care of yourself and do something that won't hurt your body!!! |

From my past experience with Prozac (which I didn't take for appetite surpression...) it increases your appetite rather than slow it down.
A good prescription to take for your appetite is Phentermine. You can also buy it online at wwww.dietprescriptions.com.
I have many, many months of experience with it, and it works like a charm.
Yes, I know I could use self control, but I don't want to, and there are other options, and I can afford them, so THERE YA GO!

Antidepressants have many effects and they vary considerably from one drug to another and also from one individual to another. For example the antidepressant Trazidone (Dezeral) is used as a sleeping aid for many who suffer from depression and insomnia. I've never heard of Prozac being used in this way, but I suppose it could very well work under the right circumstances.
If one were overeating or lethargic due to clinical depression, then I'm sure it would seem to work, but it's important to note that this is NOT the intended use for Prozac. Prozac also has been subject to many concerns recently, and I would not reccomend using it except on a physician's reccomendation, and even then I wouldn't suggest it unless you have a bonified need for antidepressants.
Also, you may want to consider that clinical testing for a drug does NOT include testing on patients who do not have a need for the anticipated effects of the drug, so it is unlikely that you will find any information from the FDA or the manufacturer that relates to the use of Prozac as an appetite supressant.
If you think that you could benefit from a prescription appetite supressant, I would advise you to consult with your physician and use a drug that is specifically designed for that purpose. |
