The sweet willow bark and twigs gives way to the hickory and maple scent of the kindling as the fire grows, when the oak logs catch, the scent of roasted acorns mingles with hickory and the warmth of the forest wraps around me like a comforter. |

*Pondering a bit for this is not easy* To with wood fires, to my wolf's nose it smells/tastes like heat (yes heat does have a scent (dry and sharp)) with the tangy flavor of wood intermixed.
For me it is a pleasent smell reminding me of home...
Now other fires like a house fire, tires ect smell like man made chemicals (painful, unnatural, deadly), which tends to make my ruff rise in distaste... |

As a chilhood memory i always remember the smell of burning leaves during the winter.The crisp cold air and burning leaves. Reminds me of home. |
