Last time i went i was left with a bunch of coins and i didn't know how much they were worth so i just ended up shoving loads of coins at the checkout people :) I'm going again in a month and it would be nice to actually understand what a quarter is and stuff this time. Well we are happy you're coming for a visit. Here it is:
penny: it's copper, worth one cent. 100 pennies equals a dollar. nickel: (slightly larger than a dime but smaller than a quarter) nickel is worth five cents. dime: (it looks the smallest) worth ten cents. Ten of these = $1, and the quarter looks larger than these but a bit smaller than a half dollar. A quarter is worth .25 cents. You can tell the difference between a quarter, a half dollar and even a dollar (though you probably won't get any of those coins (rare), by what is written on the coin. It tells you on these larger coins: "Quarter Dollar", "Half Dollar", ect. Half dollar of course is .50 cents which is half a dollar and four quarters equals one dollar. A quarter is 25 cents (25% of a dollar). There are 4 quarters in a dollar.
A dime is 10 cents (10% of a dollar). There are 10 dimes in a dollar.
A nickel is 5 cents (5% of a dollar). There are 20 nickels in a dollar.
A penny is 1 cent (1% of a dollar). There are 100 pennies in a dollar.
There are two others that are less common. The "fifty cent peice" is worth 50 cents (50% of a dollar or 2 quarters). The dollar coin is worth a dollar, and can be used just like paper money. |

just keep adding and so forth, its best to exchange your coins for dollars makes it alot easier. dollars bills change from 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 1000. |

You will get so many answers I didn't want to go into great detail, but you sound like a very smart person, so you will have no trouble.

In bills you have mostly ones, fives, tens and twenties. One is one dollar, of course. A twenty is twenty dollars.

1 dollar is 100 cents. then you have a bunch of coins and stuff. just look it up. |
