My instinct would be that it means he's searching, literally, for the right path to take in life, and he feels confused by too many choices and options. What he wants, and where he wants to go are unclear to him, and he feels the need to decide what he wants and how best to get there. The fact that he didn't find the way out before he woke up show that he doesn't feel close to resolving the situation yet. |
