Can you just keep using and using your debit card without knowing you have no money?
just wondering if stores will keep taking it without you knowing you have not enough money?

if you still have outstanding drafts that are still afloat then yes you can still use the card on what funds are in the account because the bank doesn't know that you have written drafts...
HOWEVER....if you debit your account and use the funds designated for a particular draft...once that draft hits the bank and tries to clear it will return for non-sufficient funds...not wise

if you will go over your credit card limit- your credit card will be denied .

Tra
you can't use a debit card with no money it won't process. At least not to my knowledge

Yup, I've withdrawn money from an atm not relizing I had no money and it let me, I got a finance charge of course, I went and argued with a teller about it and they refunded the charge though.

webworm90
My bank would not allow it. My bank told me it would be denied if you didn't have the amount in the bank. They also told me. I could not use my debit card ever again if my balance is $0.00
I do not have over draft protection. So it is never is reached. (I think now they would forgive for one time if I did it. I been with them for a long time). You should not overdraw your account using a debit card. Yes, some banks will approve it and charge you a lot of money.

yes you can, but have fun with the bank fees... usually most banks incur a $30 fee for every transaction after you go negative.

Sorry, no. It will 'bounce' just like a suspended credit card. And your bank will levy charges on the account, just like a bounced check.

OF COURSE!

You are a credit to your race, I wish you were my sister, you have such a firm grasp on reality.

I only wonder how many more immature questions are bouncing around in your coconut...

sure.. its tied to your checking account
you'll just have to pay the bank back for the penalty fees for what they consider "bounced checks"

Gurantee you will be glad you did.

You will be able to use until you reach the credit limit your bank has on your account, being they set a limit to say that they trust you will be able to pay that amount back, this does not go without fees however, the fees usually range between $20-$35 depending on how frequently you over spend.

Amy P
If it's a debit card, it will be tied to your checking (or sometimes savings) account. In some cases, you have an overdraft limit- that is an amount that is pre-determined when you open the account that the bank will cover you for if you make a 'bad withdrawl' SO you can make a debit using your card or a check and the bank will honor it (up to that pre-determined amount) BUT they will charge for every single transaction that overdraws your account. (the fees are usually at LEAST $25 per item) Once you get to that limit- they will stop honoring all transactions- your card will be declined and if you write checks, they'll bounce and you'll face fees from the bank and the business you wrote a check to.

Try not to do this- you go in the hole REALLY fast and it's hard to get out.

At one point you will go into the negative and then it will be declined. You will also have to pay alot of bank charges

It's just like writing checks.... usually your bank will cover the check or debit, but they will charge you a fee (up to $30 per transaction).

You have to keep track of your finances, or else it will get crazy expensive!

autoclavegirl
yes..my husband does it all the time...then he is broke and can't pay all of his bills because he is charged for "bounced" debit card usage...
