I used to only be able to sleep in complete darkness but now I'm used to a little light, like the bathroom light left on. After having 3 kids it's not too fun stumbling over toy blocks and toy cars trying to get a drink of water in the middle of the night. |

I like it as dark as dark can be, but it's nearly impossible to get pitch blackness unless you live underground or something. Any appreciable light and I'll not sleep. I also like it to be dead quiet. In lieu of that, I'll turn on my Sound Soother (invariably set to Waterfall, like someone else I know around here) and create some white noise to block out whatever I'm hearing. And in case you haven't guessed already, I'm a light sleeper prone to insomnia. |

I have to have a little light, pitch black very often freaks me out because my hearing sharpens, and I feel every small movement. I'm a light sleeper to start with so this is not a good combination.
Working 3rd a person has got to be able to sleep with some light.
I also use a fan to circulate the air and a noise machine to provide white noise which covers the miscellaneous outside sounds. |

i have no problem sleeping either way. i prefer it to be dark, but i don't feel the need to put an extra set of blinds up over the windows, or anything like that. a little noise doesn't bug me either. sometimes i'll leave the radio or cds on softly in the background, or leave the window open to catch the sounds of the night... very relaxing.
the one thing i cannot sleep with is a tv on in the room somewhere. i expressly moved the tv out of my bedroom some years ago to resist the temptation to watch while falling asleep, which never really worked anyway. |

lol, I'm a GOOD sleeper! Definitely got what we call "the sleep gene"!
I prefer pitch dark, and dead quiet, but I can always sleep :-))
I hate the idiotic noise of television!
My b/f prefers "white noise" - a fan or something. Ick! But I snuggle up next to him, and....off I go! :-)) I guess the comfort overrides the noise.
An open window is OK as far as sound.
The is nothing better than the distant sound of the rhythm of a train's wheels, and an occasional faraway whistle to make me feel cozy and comfortable.
The wind in the trees also soothes me, almost instantly.
And....off I go! :-)) |

I used to be this way and recently I've gotten so that I love going to sleep with the television on next to my bed. But i can only go to sleep to certain DVDs. So I've changed 180 degrees over the past three years. |

For me it used to have to be completly dark with my door shut and no sound. It was like that for me until I had kids. Now I can fall asleep with the light on, tv on....or the dark, it doesn't matter. |

it usually has to be pitch dark. my neighbors porchlight is usually off, but when it comes on it drives me nuts!! and the moon....i hate the moon. it shines through my window at night and keeps me from getting to sleep. it also reflects off my mirror, so whichever way i face, it always gets to me... |
