I get that all the time and the first cell phone provider that gets over their own desire to collect 6.00 just to block a number for me instead of building that capability into the actual phone itself will gain my adoring, unabashed loyalty and respect!
I don't understand why Verizon, ATT or any of the other biggies haven't figured this out yet!
I would LOVE to be able to block a number from calling my own!

When they call, ask for their mailing address "so I can send you something". Then send them a certified/registered letter saying they've got the wrong person, you've explained it to them before, and this is the last time before you sue them. The other thing you can ask when they call is for them to verify the debt--they won't be able to do it, or they'll send it to her address, not yours.
Even if all you get is the name of the company, you should be able to get the company's address, phone, owner, etc (see what your secy of state or corporation commission says about the company, and see if they've been sued before.) You can also say that they've called your work number and you're not allowed to get personal calls, you'll get fired, etc. and that they cannot call you at that number any more.
Either she lied and gave them a wrong number, or you have her old number and she changes her number/provider all the time. You'd think collection agencies would see this all the time... good luck! |

Ignoring these calls would help only if you have caller id built into your phone. If your where to pay $6.00 a month and get the number blocked, the "collection agency" would find another way of contacting you by a different number. (Trust me, company's like these go by many different numbers.) The best thing to do is to report the number to an agency that deals with bogus numbers or if you like you can look the number up on this site, (See Below) it will give you details of other people who have had the same experience with the same number. You can read comments and post your own on this site:

I hope this helps as I know whats it's like getting bogus phone calls. |

if you dont owe them anything either change your cell phone number or have it blocked.. you could always report the collection agency to the better bureau.. |

Sounds to me like the cell company may be in on it, and is just trying to get you to pay an extra monthly fee. If I were you, I would just ignore the calls until my contract is up, then switch to a different provider. |

just store the number in your phone as like dont answer or something so when they call you know its them and not to answer |

If the call comes from the same number everytime, you can block it. You can enter the number in and the call is blocked before it even rings. Or, you can forward calls from that specific number to another number (like the weather hotline or whatever). It's a setting in your phone, you don't even need to go through your provider. |

Save this number as "do not answer" and follow it! they'll get bored soon
alternatively answer and tell them that you've reported them to the police and if they have any sense to stop now
it's a pain isn't it

get a credit report done and make SURE you don't owe anyone. if anything, just change your number. it might cost you a one-time fee, but it might be worth it.
as far as the suggestions to save the number, I'm pretty sure it's not coming from the same number every time. different callers have different numbers, so that might be too complicated. |
