Equating a voluntary accpetance of a common set of beliefs with the mistaken idea that one group of people is superior to another because of elements outside one's control sounds wrong in the first place.
However, it MIGHT be equivilant to racism if the Christians mistreated non-Christians. 'Christians Only' water fountains, for example. Obviously, Christians in America don't have the power to make non-Christians ride in the back of the bus or stay out of 'Christians only' public schools, etc., etc., etc.
Even traditional Christian venues- Christian schools, bookstores, and churches- tend to not exclude non-Christians. |

Well, it's not exactly the same. Christians (of which I am one) believe that faith in Christ is necessary for salvation. Out of love for their fellow man, we wish for others to be saved. Also, the Bible commands us to spread the word of the Gospel to others (to witness). We also know that not all will believe or be saved - the Bible says that too.
That being said, I don't treat people badly because they are not Christian. I love my fellow man regardless, and treat them with respect - and pray for them. |

People choose to be a Christian. Whites cannot choose to be white, they are born that way. Christianity is a religion chosen among many races. Christians believe they are spreading the gospel of Christ, not the gospel of the white. Once one becomes a Christian, they do not become white. No, I do not think it is racism, because their intention is not to make everyone white. It is to share the news of Jesus Christ. |

No, any race can be a christian. They believe that salvation is attained only through Jesus Christ and only a small number of people will be saved in compaarison to our present population. |

You are absolutely correct. Any group that is so focused on it’s self that it can visualized only its image as the entire, the whole, their goals and agendas, as the only correct path to whatever they are after falls into this category. Absorbed with self becomes blinders to the reality of the world. |

Christians believe that "spreading the word" is a part of their religion. I don't doubt that the intentions are good, but the means can be a bit questionable. They often use food as a way to get people to listen in poor countries. "We'll feed you if you get saved". I don't know how christian that is. The Christ princicple of "surrender to what is" is important for christians and non-christians alike. The idea that you can go beyond what you accept fully, is an important truth, but I believe most christians, like most other religions, practice their religion to create an identity for themselves. Just more ego identification. |
