Hi sweetie, I was once in the same boat as you. If you have a teacher that you can trust and that you get along with go to him or her and ask if you can tell him/her something in confidence. If you don't have that then tomorrow when you go to school, at lunch time or during spare walk/drive to nearest walk in clinic and see a doctor. Take matters into your own hands and get the help you need if your parents are too stubborn to listen. Let me know if you need any help. You can email me at rainbowoveson@yahoo.ca |

I hope you get the help you need...being depressed can be very normal and letting doctors put you on medication can be very dangerous. It is not always the right thing! there are soooo many changes in your teen years and pressure from the world that it is very hard to feel "NORMAL"...so the first thing I want you to know is YOU are OK! Feeling sad alot is normal...feeling all mixed-up/crazy is normal! Try to find someone to talk to who really listens to you...maybe join a youth group at a church...it's fun and free and they will always listen...if they can stop talking...LOL! Make yourself do things...Fake it, till you make it! God loves you and wants you to be happy! |

honestly hun if you have tried your parents and they wont listen then go to a school counselor. or the next time you are at the doctor for any reason tell them. dont be worried about what your parents will do or say because this mayb be the wake up call that they need to get you real help. |

One way or another you have to see your doctor. If your parents won't take you seriously about this, tell them you need an appointment for something else- then you can talk to your doctor, and your doctor can speak with them. |

I am glad you have not been able to commit suicide - although things may seem bad right now, they can get better! Suicide is not the way to solve your problems - talk to your parents about how you are feeling so they can get you the professional help that you need to deal with whatever is going on in your life
If your parents cannot/will not help, then talk to an adult that you trust, like your school nurse or counselor, your doctor or a relative.
The pain you are feeling is real but it does not have to be forever. With the right combination of treatment (therapy and maybe medication) you can and will feel better.
I do not believe that "most" teenagers" have seriously thought about suicide, but the thought has crossed many young people's minds. The majority of youngsters who do ponder ending their life are usually feeling overwhelmed at the time and cannot see any clear solutions to their problems. Often the suicide attempt is a way of signaling to others that the person is in trouble and needs help. The sad truth is that many youngsters who end up taking their life could have been helped if they could have communicated how much pain they were in. No matter how bad things may seem at the time, things can and do get better over time with the proper help.
Feeling like you want to end your life is understandably painful, but it sounds like you want help in changing your feeling. This is good and it means that you have some hope.
I am very concerned about you and how you must be hurting inside. Professional help and talking about your feelings will help you to feel better over time. Contemplating suicide is something we all take very seriously and something you should not go through.
Suicidal ideation is very often a symptom of depression, which needs to be treated in order for the thoughts to be brought under control. Even if the ideation is not related to depression a psychiatrist or therapist can work with you to understand why they are occurring and develop a treatment plan that will address the issue.
The first thing to do is to let someone know about the thoughts you have been experiencing.
I hope I have helped you overcome depression and suicide! |

This worked for me,its' not for everyone but it is a lifestyle change that brings certain Physical,Emotional, and Spiritual balance to my past emotional rollercoaster. I became a vegan, which is a strict vegetarian (Mcdougal.org I believe)in '97 when my father was dying from lung cancer.I lost over 100 pounds(weighed over 300 pounds at the time),started riding my bike everywhere. People noticed the big change, and I started helping them to learn about this much improved lifestyle. If you can find someone to help,as horribly difficult as that can be when your own life seems so bleak, dark and sad,I think you'll find by helping someone else you are really helping yourself.Watch out for alcohol and the people in those circles. My father and brother are and were both alcoholics,so were some of my closest friends. Just so you know I am not preaching I had a couple very bad car accidents, and fights, from drinking. It did not help that I also used to smoke enough pot every month to pay most peoples rent.lol Try reading a book that helped me very much,"The Road Less Traveled",it's by a psychiatrist that suffered from similiar feelings we have both experienced. And without getting religious on you,the Bible was, has, and is a great guide book for human beings.Learn how to pray to whatever higher power you have faith in. Praying everyday should become as regular for you as eating and breating.Don't be kept away from this by the conservative christian movement in this country, they have taking something powerful and healing and bent it to suit their own purposes. And if you don't follow any of this just remember this:THERE ARE NO SPARE PARTS IN GOD'S UNIVERSE!In the same area of the book store as the first one are books by the Buddist Dali Lama,he explains how to breathe and how to see thru the false beleifs of this world. How to see beyond the false ideas that this current society inflicts upon us all.We are all one.You are me and I am you.You can train your emotions as an athelete train his body, and become a spiritual warrior.Protect yourself by putting on God's Armor of Love. Part of this is clarified expectations, try not to let yourself get into positions to be disappointed by others faults, and betrayals. An example,if I was to walk up and throw a glass of cold water on you out of the blue, you obviously are going to be hurt and angry, right? But,if I told you I was going to walk up to you, and throw a glass of water on you ahead of time, you would not be surprised and will have spiritually and, mentally prepared yourself. You'd just grab a towel and wipe yourself off. Same holds true when anyone trys to hurt you or attack you emotionally,be prepared surround yourself with your Armor of Love.(Now if they attack you physically,Get a baseball bat and beat them until their unconscious, lol) These are the bullet points that has helped someone(myself)who was definitely in need of help and that for years had a very, very dark view of this world. Walking is an amazingly healing activity, both for your soul and body, walk at least 3 of 4 times a week.Okay hope this is of some help to you and just remember you are not alone. And download Christina Aguilera's song "Beautiful".Make it your battle song.
The Dali Lama says,"Pain is inevitable, suffering is a choice",so remember choice, and, power are within you,me, and us all.And "Don't let the bastards get you down!(ME)
May peace be with you.
Frank
ps:caffine and alcohol are both depressants, avoid both like the plague. |

If you are english then phone Childline or THe Samaritans. You can get their number on yell.com. If you are not then try and find their equivalent.
I have suffered from depression since I was 14 and now I just try and have mind over matter. I do things that make me smile, I care less about what others think and I see a Counsellor.
If yuor parents don't take you seriously, it is either because they know you too well and you are just going through the teenage hormone thing OR they don't understand and are too close to see what is really going on. These things are usually better taken up with a stranger. If you need to talk you can email me. |
