I want to compare company models for businesses. So I am looking for answers from those of you who are consultants for in-home parties/open houses. (ie.. premier designs, pure romance, silpada, pampered chef) I am not looking for you to recruit me to be in your downline- For now I am just looking for general info to compare.
Examples: What percentage of sales do consultants earn? What promotions do you offer to get people to book parties at a show? What benefits/perks does a host get for having a show? Etc etc...

I am an Independent Wine Consultant with Wine Shop at Home(tm). While we are a new company we have been doing massive growth over the past five years. We offer limited edition wines from small vineyards around the world and bring them to you for a try before you buy program plan. The compensation plan is very well planned and is very comparable to most companies, however I think we are a bit better when you start comparing levels if you sponsor people.

I must say that I am also a Pure Romance consultant and while its completely a different type of party its a lot of fun! They start you off at 35% commission but can work your way up to 52% commission based on sales of recruits,etc.
You don't have to carry inventory however the norm in the industry is that you do. That being said one of the cons is lugging around all that inventory to each and every party.
Pure Romance is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. They are a very well respected and established company, especially in their industry.
At times the PR market can be a little saturated but with your good skills in sales and recruiting you will do just fine. Pamper the hosts.
Out of the 35% commission you do have to pay for any and all hostess gifts, free merchandise, etc. It may sound bad but its not that bad. Average party sales are about $700.

In Mary Kay you make 50% of the sales you own your own business so you buy directly from the company for wholesale and sell to the customer for retail what sales or perks you offer is up to you however the company does offer suggestions and training to help you. Other avenues of income include team building and career car program.
I think when it comes to picking a home business you are smart to compare party plans however it is just as important to believe in the product you decide to sell. I love what I do because I share something I love and believe in. I make women feel good about themselves. I love the company and it's values how it treats the sales, listens to our concerns and supports us so we succeed. I love a consumable product it gives reorder business. The plan allows me to set my own pace to work as little or as much as I want and achieve any level of success I desire while putting my faith and family before my career. Becareful on making an emotional decision be sure to research each company that interest you factually there are so many and everyone thinks theirs is the best as they should.

Well, I'd like to make this short & sweet.
I am a consultant with The Pampered Chef & absolutely LOVE it!!
I will just give you the basic information because I don't want to overwhelm you with stuff that is unimportant at this point.
With Pampered Chef (PC), you can earn between 20-25% of your commissionable sells each month depending on how much you sell.
There is no need to offer promotions to get people to book a show because Pampered Chef offers them for you. They have monthly host specials & guest specials, & they even offer past host specials. For one year following a host's party, they get a 10% discount. They also get the host special at a friend's party that was book up to 6 months after theres off their party. For example, Mary has a party in January & Sue books a party at Mary's for May, then Mary would get the May host special at Sue's party (I hope that makes sense).
At a party, there are different tiers that a host can earn for hosting a show. These include a % off, half-priced items, & pampered chef dollars redeemable at their show.
With Pampered Chef, you also have the opportunity to purchase products from 20-40% off for yourself & earn trips & other incentives such as Pampered Chef dollars.

Hello! Glad to hear you're interested in learning about Silpada! Ultimately, you have to pick the company that best fits you and we all love our companies that we work for, but I have yet to hear of a company that offers you more income potential and an easier party than Silpada Designs jewelry. I notice you're looking at Premier and Lia Sophia as well, and to that I would say, the only upside to those jewelry companies over Silpada is that it costs less to start and if your target party crowd is people that want a cheap purchase price. Silpada is not costume/fashion jewelry! Silpada is BY FAR higher quality. It is the highest quality .925 Sterling Silver jewelry, natural materials, and all individually handcrafted pieces. I've heard Lia Sophia people say but they have a lifetime guarantee. Silpada has the exact same guarantee. As far as earnings...You earn 30% on jewelry sales and 15% on belts and watches. As of August 1, 2008 all will be 30%. This is higher than most home parties AND Silpada is among the highest average party sales in the direct selling industry. So not only are you earning a higher percentage, but you're earning a higher percentage on higher sales! On average $225 for 2-3 hours at a home party. In addition, should you choose to recruit representatives your override commissions are ubelieveable! Silpada jewelry sells itself! There is no formal presentation or demonstration you have to perform at home parties like some other companies. It's designed around a casual, open house style party. Just girls' night out playing dress up with jewelry! Your product samples are your own jewelry box! To sign on you may order anything at 50% off. Generally, $850 will get you an excellent start.
