Ads affect my purchases rarely, but at least they promote wide spread name recognition for various products. I like the continuing story lines, like for Sonic, and of course the gekco. Remember the "Where's the BEEF" lady?
In my case, I have looked for and bought the occasional grocery product I've seen and heard about on television. Coupons from newspapers and flyers were helpful while our family was growing up and I was trying to save money, but eventually I realized that I almost always only used coupons on products we already used and liked.
Come to think of it, it was an ad on Yahoo! while I was looking for one of my groups that tipped me off about Yahoo! Answers. So that kind of internet advertising works. |

Certainly. Condescending, rude or manipulative ad's will NOT make me buy something. Actually, they will stop me from buying! I am insulted by how simple and ignorant the advertising groups think the average American is.
I love how funny Geico ad's are and yet, in all the years they have had them running, I have yet to convert. Why? Because I compared their rates to my own and the numbers don't add up~ So, just because I like the ads for their entertainment value, doesn't mean I will dump money into their laps to make more~ LOL |

Yes ads have an important bearing on my decision..if the ad is cool..i may buy the product even if actually don't require it..like a new soap..toothpaste..any FMCG product..

Sometimes, especially when it comes to cleaning products. I am waiting for one that you spray on, walk away and never return. They are improving constantly.
On the flip side, I love the Geico gekko, yet I won't purchase their car insurance. They are still higher than my company. |
