I think you are probably asking if they are legally obligated to ask another doctor to write prescriptions for them. I dont know if they are, but I think they should be accountable regardless of status, we are all human. Accountability keeps us strong :) |

No, they may treat and prescribe medicine for themselves.
Do a search on
physician self prescribe
It can bring up ethical questions, but perfectly legal as long as some other law, such as contributing to an addiction, are not being broken. |

Doctor may treat themselves. There is no law preventing this from happening. The reason why this is not done is, that doctors are human also, and they would not be objective about their own diagnosis, especially if it is something bad, like a terminal disease. |

Yes they tend to do it because like everybody else they can get emotional and prefer a logical response from another doctor. |

Not necessarily. However, there are those times when they must. Like when unconscious or their malady falls outside of their expertise and the like. |

THEY PROBABLY DO BECAUSE IF THEY NEED A DOCTOR THEY CAN NOT TAKE CARE OF THEM SELF SO THEY MIGHT HAVE N O CHOICE TO GO TO A DOCTOR.

Yes, they do. I worked for a dermatologist and
other doctors came to him (thro the back door) for
their skin problems. They go to specialists just
like everyone else has to do (but they do get
special treatment, like come now, no appointment
necessary as they are too busy to wait in a waiting
room). I imagine, however, they can remove their own
and family's splinter. Ha. |
