I've never actually seen a ghost so i have no proof of their existence, however, this is what i believe:
We as humna beings are all made of matter and energy (like all living things).
A fundamental law of physics is that matter (and energy) is neither created nor destroyed. It merely changes form.
After death our bodies (matter) changes to dust (or digested by worms, or rots, etc.) Our energy (that which gives us the ability to move and think)is released into the atmosphere.
Most often the released energy disperses in the air, however i believe that in rare cases, it may stay together creating an image of the deceased person. maybe it retains that person's conciousness--maybe not. but this is what i think a ghost is (if it, in fact, exists). |

Seriously, I am not sure whether I believe in ghosts or not. When I was 12, my grandmother died. (I was her favorite grandchild.) I moved into her bedroom soon after, to get away from sharing a room with my sister. One night, I woke up to find her rocking chair was rocking, and there were two little red points of light about where her eyes would be if she was sitting in the chair. I said, "Nana? Is that you?" She didn't say anything, but the chair kept on rocking. I said, "Is it OK that I took over your room?" I did not get an audible response, but a great wave of warmth and affection washed over me.
You might say that this was a dream, but I am sure it was not. I woke up before it happened, not after. I remember sitting up, and I remember getting out of bed and going over to the window after the rocking chair stopped rocking. I looked out the window, and the full moon was just rising. |
