I'm detecting a trend that I'd actually considered before I posted the question: We seem to know for sure we've dreamt in colour when colour plays a significant role in the dream. alhetzel, mitch, royrox and others seem to vindicate this idea... Kristy, wow! I'd never heard that theory before. Very intriguing. Thanks for sharing that... Lissa, interesting that a change in lifestyle could produce such a reaction even in dreamland. Thanks for introducing that element... Nae, remind me to tell you sometime of an even freakier interaction between the denouement of a dream and the rude awakening in the real world of the waking (truly bizarre). I dream both in color and black and white, and once I even dreamed in cartoon. it was awesome! I did a research paper on dreams, and if you're really aware of color in the waking world (especially people like painters, etc), you're more likely to dream in black and white, whereas if you take color for granted, you usually just dream in color. |

Yes, always, because when I tell someone my dream from the night before, I always reference the colors, as though I were talking about a play, or movie. The colors of my dreams are always very vivid. I see a lot of red in them, whether it be blood, or a flower. I never knew people only dreamed in black and white until someone asked me long ago if I dreamed in color. I thought they were just yankin my chain! |

Very much so. A few years ago I quite smoking. I used 'the patch' to quit. While I was using this stop smoking aid I had very intense vivid dreams in bright colors. |

There is color in my dreams. Im not sure if the rest is black and white or if I just dont remember the entire colorful picture. example: One of my past dream journal entries notes and pale green liquid in a glass on a wooden table that tastes like mint chocolate chip ice cream. very sensory but i dont recall wether the rest of the dream was black and white or not. example2: I am mothering/swaddling baby kittens one is an orange and black tiger with some white and the other is a black and white tiger. I see the papa tiger coming toward me he is orange and black and I am afraid for the kittens, I realize I am dreaming and approach him asking who he is. just as the mask starts to fall away my alarm goes off. Did my unconscious mind plan that? frustrating |

Yes! Yes,I'm pretty sure! I always remember my dreams,they are very real! When I was a child,sometimes I would wake up frightened,not knowing if that was a dream or not.Now,I'm used to this kind of dream and they help me to think and learn about myself. :)
P.S. I've just read Kristy's post and this doesn't work that way for me! I'm very aware of colours,sounds,everything that affects the senses! Maybe this is different for each person!
