When it comes to bovine milk, it makes a lot of sense actually given the volume that cows can produce. If it were economically feasible, then there might be a market for human milk. yuk. But cows' milk has that rare combination of volume, fat/nutrition and flavor. |

If animals could get the milk of other species they would gladly drink it. We are the only species who figured out how to make them give it to us. Animals only drink milk while they are nursing. We are the only species to take it beyond that. |

I have thought about this too. But I am sure that early humans realized that during lean times that the milk provided by animals would keep them from starving. |

The only reason animals don't drink milk from other animals because they can't, not because they wouldn't want to.
Food is food. I am sure that animals would consider milk as an excellent source of protein - if they could only get it. But think, how would one animal convince another animal to just stand there while they drink its milk?
Humans drink milk from cows, and others animals, because we can. As a species we have smart enough to have learned how to domesticate and raise animals for their milk and meat. |

If other animals on the planet had an IQ they too may learn to contain other animals milk for nutrition and what not. But because they're all stupid they don't.
I don't think we instictually crave cows milk. Its a skill we've learnt. |
