You just do it. It's the only way to start overcoming your fear. I fear the same sometimes, eventhough I had trouble doing it, but I still did it (at school). Most people who don't have this fear are very confident. Not that you're not confident, just a little shy. So, again, just do it and afterwards you'll be "what was I afraid of?" Then you are more relaxed and proud that you did it. Good Luck. |

Eevr heard of the toastmaster's group? http://www.toastmasters.org/
Well you can join up a toastmasters group in your locality. When you join this group, it will give you a chance to participate in constructive conversations in a fun environment. The purpose of the group is to help people improve their public speaking skills and remove that fear we all have at times.Personally, i have been to one session of the toastmasters ( i am yet to join due to time constraints) and it was fabuluous. Besides it gives you a chance to network and socialize with people form various walks of life and different cultures. |

That's the number one fear of the modern age. More than death! Believe it or not! Fortunately, resources exist to help people get over the fear, not the least of which is practicing your speech prior to giving it - a lot of times! |

YES! I get sweetie palms, my heart races, my hands shake, and my voice trembles. One thing that helps me to be more calm is to always set up toward the front of the group that I will be in front of. This keeps you from getting over whelmed at 'all' the people you are speaking to. Another trick is I listen to my "life theme song", on my Walkman right up to the time I have to speak. (And I know secretly everyone has one.....mine is, "We are the champions" by Queen) This song motivates me, calms me down, and I feel good about what I am getting ready to do. There is a ole wise tale that says, "Imagine all the audience in their underwear" and this was suppose to make a person comfortable, but never did a thing for me. Maybe something here will help you,.... Sisters of Fear. |

practice, practice, practice. Start with a small group of 3-5 people. Then speak in front of a larger group, say 10 people. Over time, you'll get used to it. Practice makes perfect! |

Yes I always have. My voice shakes and I feel unfocused and like I'm about to faint. I don't know if I could ever get over it. When I walk into a classroom and I hear "Speech" I freak out and usually skip that day of class |

Like what kind of group are you speaking in front of? When I talk in groups I try not to look at the audience to much. |
