Do you think Yuppie is a negative term, would it be a good name for a business magazine?

its dated
its not appealing.. its a term of derision
it may work as a magazine title, after all the ex Private Eye editor runs a magazine called 'The Oldie'

if it was me I'd choose something different that appeals to the same (Yuppie) demographic but doesn't have the same connotations

I think its a great name for a business magazine!

Its retro and could do some good marketing with, i think the new Yuppie generation of today don't see the negativity behind the word and would look back and see the Yuppies of the 80s as cool characters?

What else does everyone think a good name would be?

raysor
Bit old hat, isn't it?
No.

I would associate 'Yuppie' as an outdated term that came out in the early nineties. Alot of younger people won't even know what it means. I suggest you find an alternative word more up to date

Hi!! Call it the "Enterprise Magazine" and sub title (for the new upwardly mobile people)
A re- hash of the original Yuppies.
That would sound much better.

Ron S
Only Yuppies thought it was complimentary in the 80's

Everyone else thought the term described idiots with more money than sense. They usually ended up making banks go bust through stupid and immature decisions/deals

Dave
when seeing as it's slang for 'young urban professional' - or variations thereof, I don't see why it wouldn't make a good business title, especially is this was your target audience.

durulz2000
Personally, I see it as an insult. That's how I'd use it, and I'd be insulted if anyone called me it.
