Fantastic idea, everyone hates cleaning out their wheelie bins, specially in the summer (pong!). Try advertising in the local newspaper, the council offices and in shop windows, perhaps if you could afford it, have some flyer's printed and get them delivered in the newspapers, they only charge a small fee. yes..near me there is one and they have a specail lorry thing that can lift the wheelie bins on to a cleaning thing.. i would pay for someone to clean mine..it stinks |

yeah why not, I think the best way to promote it would be to print off your own flyer's with your logo etc etc etc. The bin men will work in different parts of your area on different days of the week, so you can find out from your local council the collection days in the different areas. Then the day before they empty the bins in that area, post your flyer's, this will then still be stuck in there minds. you will have to put in a lot of foot work and minimal outlay with the flyer's, but it should pay off for you... Good luck with you new business venture. |

I don't see why not. Check with the Council though, because you may need a license as most bins are the property of a local council and you don't want them taking you to court. If there is litter left in any of the bins it would be your Chaps responsibility to dispose of it and that usually requires a commercial license for the local tip.
Make sure he is up to date with Teatanus shots before he starts as any cuts may cause him health problems. Get the guys to buy proper coveralls which can be boil washed and get 2-3 sets each, steel cap boots are a good idea too. Source good detergent and Water dispenser supplies, most people will be out when they perform the work and won't be happy to let them use a private water supply. Maybe do the rounds following on from rubbish collection. Use a leaflet drop, local paper and local shops to advertise and keep records of signed up customers. Get customers to sign a contract and sort out how they are going to pay or you could get ripped off.

My wife signed up for this. £2 every 2 weeks, but I cannot see the point as all the rubbish is in plastic bags before they go in the bin. |

My son has been doing a wheelie bin cleaning round since he was 13. He is 17 now and still at it after school. He has paid for two holidays for himself and has just bought a car. He has a regular round now, and his clients think the world of him and give good tips. Go for it. Wrap up warm in winter though. Get busy on your pc and make some leaflets. Do a special rate for oaps. You can stencil their address on the bins for a little extra too. Find out collection days in certain areas, as people like them cleaned after emptying. Good luck. Hope there were a few ideas there for you. |
