As a Catholic I adhere to the observances and rite of the Catholic Church. If you go by this definition, I guess I ampart of a cult. When you hear people talking about cults, they are usually talking about those off the wall groups, who does evil things. |

Being a Christian, (which I used to be) is more of a way of thinking about life and our relationship with each other. All the religious trappings and detailed rules, though, don't really do the central idea justice. Cults are mainly focused on the rules instead of trying to bring a better life to as many people as you can. |

Are You trying to be funny ? Or are you serious ! Just out of the top of your head ask yourself how many cults are there In this country alone ? Being a Christian has nothing to do with a cult, unless they use Christ As an Evil tool or crutch to get people to join their group. and I've seen people call them selves Christians and not even know what being a Christians is all about, those are Cults. They act like do goodies in Church but at home they curse and profane the word Christ and denies his existence in their own lives. Your not ashamed of being a christian are you ? I'm not and I do believe In God, and the rewards he has bestowed upon me for being the way I am, are much greater in heaven than on earth. You don't have to choose my answer or believe what I'm saying to you, Because I know what I'm talking about. God gave you the right to decide that for your own judgmental calling, but in the end He'll decide what to do with you too. |

No, christianity does not fall under the definition of a cult. Cult:
"A religion or religious sect generally considered to be extremist or false, with its followers often living in an unconventional manner under the guidance of an authoritarian, charismatic leader."
Since Christianity is one of the major world religions (ranking at the top at 33% of the world's population: 2.1 billion people), it can't fall under the definition of a cult even if some people think it is a false religion. Cults are only cults until they gain popularity. When Christianity was first developing it was a cult, now it isn't. |
